Heavy snow again now, and lots to come shortly. Temp dropped to 0.3c and dew point -0.7. We really are in a good place just now.
How much do you think we'll get in total? I'm hopeful for around 20cm.
-
Heavier areas of snow breaking out all over the north and east midlands. This could be very good indeed. Snow starting to settle on minor roads and pavements that had thawed around here.
It's the same here, very heavy and very windy.
-
Snow here for a while but it's not settling, hopefully when night falls we'll see some progress in that regard.
-
Still not a single flake. It may be a little too early to say this, but I have the horrible feeling we're going to miss out here.
-
It looks to be starting to stall
Why can't it move just a little more first?
-
Still nothing here in Chesterfield, how dull. Hopefully everything will begin shortly.
-
well the place to be tonight is the midlands net wather forum, just read most of the posts from 7.30 to now,
some posts were just just great, "OMG look at NAE " I DID and it showed 8 levels of pink form here, got to be over 50cms.
this just started as snow here, dry as bone, blowing around, where are fellow Derbyshire posters, early night looking forward to tommorrow morings snow feast.
there could be seroius snow depths here, villages cut off. may be on the verge of a red warning for Peak District.
Sometimes you need a good old ramp.
Nothing here for me yet, hopefully things will pick up soon.
-
It's ridiculously close here, hopefully this event will be one to remember.
-
All I need is around 5-7 centimetres by around 8am tomorrow so I don't have to go to sixth form. Hopefully this event will produce, I can't remember significant snow in this location so late in the year.
-
Chesterfield with 50cm.
-
This is turning out to be another excellent event here with much more to come. I doubt I'll be going to sixth form tomorrow, that's for certain.
-
The snow has stopped here, with around 5cm-7cm or so having fallen. I'm satisfied, although to be fair Chesterfield always does well for snow.
-
A nice little covering here (I'm guessing of around two centimetres or so), hopefully only a nice extra to what will come tomorrow.
-
Nowt spectacular is it. Might get a bit heavier in the next hour if we're lucky, but otherwise i'll look forward to tomorrows dinner / afternoons snow if it happens
I guess any snow event will be disappointing compared to December 2010 from now on.
-
The lightest of dustings here in Chesterfield, the snow is amongst the lightest I've ever laid eyes upon but hey, at least it's there.
-
Rain if anything here in Chesterfield too, the dew point is just over freezing so I guess it should be no surprise that the lamp post test has failed so far.
-
I lived about a mile away from you and my parents still live around there. My mum just says they have had a little storm with just one lightning flash. I need to move back down there though, i used to see loads more storms than i do up here. Problem is, i'd miss the snow
I know I'm just a little further north than there, but we usually do quite well for snow here nowadays.
It's going dark here again...
-
Not hard to beat zero really. So far another poor year though plenty of promise but bar one weak T storm and a Thundery shower all on the same day not a lot to show for it all.
I guess that it feels like, compared to last year, this year has been good. None of my storms have been particularly strong, but still, ANYTHING is better than last year.
-
Perhaps this is the year for the North Midlands/South Yorkshire? 2011 was painful in regards to how many close misses I had but this year is going much better.
-
Quite a few rumbles of thunder, fourth storm of the year now, maybe more to come?
-
I suppose that 'El Cheso' doesn't have the same ring to it...
-
It's still raining heavily here, the street has flooded, some good flashes and rumbles here. I am more than satisfied.
-
A few flashes of lightning and around ten rumbles of thunder with heavy rain, this will do.
-
Rumble of thunder here.

I guess as always it'll be a case of nowcasting and hoping for the best. The scene outside now looks the same as at around 7am for snow cover, with it looking like no thaw had occurred at all.
