So much better than it looked on the forecast 48 hrs ago. Barely a cloud in the sky, apart from those mentioned above. Little breeze, so feeling warm in the sun whilst out walking the dog. There's very little competition, but the best weekend for weather so far this year.

As outdoor evenings go in 2024, this is pretty glorious. Thankfully the forecast overcast conditions came and went. Nice to be positive for a change. The blossom on the tree does seem a couple of weeks behind.

So much for the drier,more pleasant week. After another lovely morning, it's clouded over, we've just had a rain and hail mix and the temperature has dropped to 7c. Tomorrow pm looks damp if not wet, and showers creeping into Fridays morning's forecast too . I suppose it's better than what we've had.

Who needs words when a picture says it all. 5 dry days in the past month, and although never massively wet, just continously damp. Horrendous. 

We can only dream of a month with 5 wet days in it .

 Scuba steve  I mentioned it before, but the past 9 months have been the worst for working outdoors, since we started 15 years ago. There's been plenty of wet spells before, but nothing compares to this.

 Rush2019 Same here, and there's not much in the way of dry days coming up either. Out of the last 27 days, we've managed only 5 dry ones. A grim but unsurprising statistic. We are either incredibly unlucky, and in the midst of a prolonged wet spell, or something has changed and this could be what the future holds. I really hope its bad luck.

A clap of thunder and wet snow here with the temperature down to 2.5c. Maybe not unusual for March, but unusual for it to come from the south. Must be some cold air aloft.

 iand61 it is little more diffficult than it used to be to park, but we've gained a huge space for festivals and shows. There are loads of spaces within 2 or 3 minutes walk,  plus there will be a new car park to the rear. With all council car parks free for 3 hours, I don't suppose it's their priority to build new ones.

Undoubtedly the first day of the year that's felt warm. A coat was definitely not required early afternoon in the March sunshine. A wander into town for a couple of drinks and a look at our revamped town hall. Incredible work done to the inside and a couple more months to go on the outside. One of the region's, if not the country's, most impressive civic buildings.

 Weather-history that is an incredible stat, and it proves what many of us on here have already been saying. It has been a dire 12 months for rainfall. Unfortunately, its also backed up by the other wetter winters records you've given us. 

What is concerning is that this is exactly what we've been told could be one of the outcomes through gradual climate change. Warmer air can hold more water, and that water is more likely to fall in those areas that see maritime air massess. We're right in the firing line. 

It affects all of us, and more especially those that work outdoors. From my own perspective it is causing problems. My business installs building foundations, and wet ground conditions throughout a job can add 20% to the time it takes to complete. Add to that the miserable working conditions and you get an unhappy workforce and terrible productivity. Since last July its been grim working in the ground, and there doesn't seem to have been many 30 days periods with less than 200mm of rain. 

It might be something we all have to adapt to, but its just another thing that adds to costs in a world where we're all already suffering inflated prices.

 iand61 Yeah, thats been one of the worst days in bunch of bad 'uns. The wettest day of the month with 25mm and it continues a run of 11 days with rain. At least the weekend could be dry. A dry month seems a long while ago.

Apologies for the moan on Valentines Day but as I sit here typing this, the rain is yet again drumming away on the front room window. I don't know about anyone else, but I've had enough of what seems to be months of rain. It's not just a winter thing, it just doesn't seem to have stopped since late summer (bits of an often warm September excluded). The incessant grey and damp is just getting depressing. I don't keep records, but the number of wet days over the past 6 months must be getting on for a record. Is it too much to get a dry week or 2 with a winter high and blue skies? Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be much sign of a change in the short term. April and May often bring some of the best conditions and they can't come soon enough.

Heavy, blowing snow and a wicked wind from the east. Just a shame most surfaces were always going to be too wet and warm to allow it to settle properly. With frozen ground we'd have had 5 or 6 inches.

Snow here still but its all dependant on the heavier stuff. Lighter bands bring a rise in temp and dp. Need something a little greener on the radar to get those temps down again. 

Snow is struggling to settle here at 200m on anything other than cars and grass. On the photo looking north over the village, there's a definite line at about 250m, where snow is settling.

Ah. Perhaps precipitation rates are having an effect. Moderate snow here right now. Air temp and dp both dropping fairly quickly.

Horizontal sleet up here. Looking like a pretty grim day to come. I can't help but think I'd expected someone, somewhere to be reporting snowfall by this time in the morning.

The wind has gone has gone up a notch. It was at the occasional whistling stage about 30 mins ago. Then it was full on whistling and rain hammering at the windows. Now we've got to the stage where the odd thump on the house makes it feels like something has hit it. A little wild to say the least.

We seem to have got lucky with a couple of overnight showers and everything is covered again. Unfortunately, the lethal ice and frozen snow covering the roads and footpaths yesterday that could be seen, is now hidden again. Day 4 with snow and can't complain about that.

Back from a quick walk with the dog and I can see the top of that shower over Llandudno. It looks quite impressive and if that's the sort of thing some of us see later, then it could be a decent evening to slowly wind down this cold spell.

I spoke a little soon. Instead of glancing through the window at the lamppost, I got off my bum and put the bin out. It has been heavy enough to cover the road and cars again. It'll be treacherous in the morning. Not a chance they'll get up here to empty that bin . Anyone south and east of here with decent height may well get a bit more if it stays heavy enough. It's not 'warmed up' here all day, 0.7c at the moment.

Heaviest snow of the day for the past 15 mins and the air temp dropping quick. Shame the dp is going the other way and conditions now, unlike earlier, are not suitable for settling snow.

If the air and dp temperatures here keep rising as they are, then both will be above freezing by midday. Hopefully, any heavier stuff will slow that rise. As others have mentioned, the big story could be the ice rink that forms when any melt freezes overnight.

Great to see so many folk have got snow this morning. Lots more to come too before the will it/won't it temporary switch to rain/ sleet. Up to 30mm here and -1.5c. Dp now rapidly catching up with slowly rising air temp.

Beautiful day today. A little chilly, but nothing proper clothing doesn't sort out. Clear artic air gives fantastic blue skies. Perfect day for a little local walk with the dog down into Ashworth Valley. I'd be happy if it stayed like this for the week rather than cloud and bobbins potential for snow.
