  1. Snowing over the tops of Berwyns and absolutely horrible sleety cold driving rain at our level. yeuch! Right, back to indignant letter to Post Office protesting closure of our local village PO. I feel reet in the mood!!!!
  2. Snow dusting on the tops of the hills. Cold day - not more than 3-4 degrees, but dry ish. Just waterfilled - air, ground, streams and rivers. But have to say, wouldn't swop this for last winter - snowy as it was. At least now the sheep are alive... if wet. All this talk on mod thread about how snowy our winters have been is a bit meh... the last three winters saw snow in parts of UK, but prior to that a good run of dreary snowless wet winters we had.
  3. No,I didn't know. I read this thread to learn about weather, not personal angst about weather, but thanks for the explanation.
  4. I think you do, what do you mean by 'venom' meteorologically speaking.
  5. Beautifully sunny, if distinctly chilly day today and below 0.6c now. Fresh load of kilned oak logs delivered today, glowing fire, glowing belly from monthly korma curry, not really bothered re snow anymore, BUT our bad month 2013 was March - so no complacency yet!
  6. Have downloaded plans to build an ark..... However, prefer unrelenting rain to minus big number temps and snow in the US and Canada.
  7. Howling winds most of night, with drving rain. No power cuts, thank the heavens and scottish power! Duck stock for soup, logs in basket ready for another day indoors. Have peered out of window, River Ceiriog full and belting past, but most of garden furniture (shed n trellis) look to still be there. Me not going anywhere.
  8. Very frosty this morning. Will be lovely for walking the dog. Apart from that I am going to spend the entire day lying on the sofa in front of the log burner, my christmas day pinnie well and truly hung up!
  9. Some snow flurries yesterday, bright and chilly Christmas morning, time to get up, leaving snoring husband and cat to a lie in. Merry Christmas!
  10. Got some sleet and snow about half an hour ago, nothing settling at our level. Still, I feel seasonally christmassified and have put all the twinkly fairy lights on. Tree gets dressed Saturday night - husband out, sherry uncorked, Dean, Bing and Frank on the player.....
  11. On the model output forum, do they ever look back from where they are now and go either "see, told you so" or "crickey, didnt see that one!" cos its blowing a hooley here and the leaks are back and potential SNOW tomorrow.
  12. Crumbs, me middle age snow wish creeping in, "just enough for christmas day and cleared off by next bin day", while my innner child goes, snow, snow, and more snow, pleeease!!!
  13. So if it can happen now, and has happened before and snow in Palestine, Syria and Jerusalem, factor in the odd comet then perhaps the snowy christmas nativity scene beloved of christmas card painters might have happened? From a scientific, and agnostic view, if you can have a paper published on climate change impacts in Middle Earth (see The Blackboard for more details) then that should happily employ a few postgrads Of Climathology .
  14. 3.5 and beautiful sun in Glyn Ceiriog this morning - 2.5 and heavy cold fog Oswestry most of the day - just coming up to about 5 degrees now but feels colder. Have to say love crisp (with or without fog) mornings - feels almost festive!
  15. Crikey! Cricket echos in here. Perhaps we should pop back every half and hour or so to see if it's still breathing?
  16. ooh good, it's back. (sorry - cross post from Midlands Regional- couldn't find us in the regional lists for a bit)
  17. Sorry Midlands Regional - just a question for mods - has the Welsh Regional discussion been blown away? Can't seem to access it. We had howling gale when it passed through Glyn Ceiriog (Shropshire Wrexham borders) with driving hail and rain, then it went beautifully blue and now that slightly yellowy coloured grey that might, hopefully, betoke a leetle bit of snow.
  18. When we had the snow over Wales in March - our area (near Llangollen) suffered major hit - lots of lambs/sheep casualties. It is seemingly just down to human population numbers/impact on travelling etc., quite a few farmers I think have joined the welsh forum - at least you can share info/anecdotal evidence in real time!
  19. Aah, the joys of a Slate Cottage in Wales - wind blowing a gale outside and floorboards inside lifting in sympathy - still it might drive some of the damp off........... love it though - have learned the joy of sox - knitting my fifth pair now........................
  20. Blue skies, smokey black clouds and hail and hail and hail....... time to light the fire.........
  21. Snow all gone. Now a beautiful sunny autumn/winter day - blue skies and fantastic tree plumage. Bing gone back into chrimbie drawer until the next snowfall.
  22. Proper, real, big, snow falling. Fairisle socks on, digs in draw to find chrimbie music...Bing, where are you?
  23. Little covering of snow on hills, with some on car windows. Beautiful red sunrise, temps @2c. Today is work from home rayburn on all day make casserole and soup day!
