  1. Worth keeping an eye out now as the front cuts in, Wales for example..
  2. Alien space ship or shockwave? Hills generating lift, I am counting on this mechanic to produce storms once the front passes.
  3. Reduced image size by 60% so it should fit the image thingy better.
  4. It might. I've been watching the sky here too and it is now looking very unstable, something could break out at any second.
  5. It is the line of showers I have been watching for the last few hours, it intensified rapidly as it hit land and it is now approaching your area at around 40 mph.
  6. Actually this may be an indication that activity is developing or will do soon as cooler air from somewhere has cut under the warmer air in the region, and there is only one direction that warm moist air can go. Upwards.
  7. As I suspected, that area in the south-west has pepped up having made landfall and is now generating lightning. Lets see where else this happens overnight.
  8. Wait, the Wales radar. Magnify! *Chain sneezes* Damn grass..
  9. There is also what will happen once the front has gone through, most storms I see in my area occur in the hours and days after a frontal system has passed through rather than in advance of it.

    Top Gear!

A new series of top gear started last night btw in case you are a fan and didn't know, that marauder thing is made of win, I want one! http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b0129r3z/Top_Gear_Series_17_Episode_1/
  11. Yeah I've been watching that for the last hour, there was some lightning in that a while ago but it has been quiet since. Will be interesting to see what happens when it reaches land.
  12. If that is the case then we may have the beginnings of a squall line.
  13. Not that one, (though it does still have potential) there is a smaller area of recent development south east of it out in the ocean. V5 radar picked up some sferics in it about half an hour ago though it has remained silent since.
  14. Picking up some sferics in that area of development off the south west coast as well, worth keeping an eye on as that could turn in to a line of storms when it makes land fall.
  15. Must have been a hell of a down draft for that storm to reduce the temperature like that.
  16. That activity in the northeast looks mean. You mean MCS? That stands for multi cell (or cellular) storm.
  17. A storm approached my area a few hours ago, could hear it rumbling away as I was cleaning the car. Anyway it missed. Tomorrow looks like the best bet for here though that said overnight tonight doesn't look too bad either.
  18. That cell over Canterbury looks pretty active.
  19. Calmed down here now, looks like I'm in the void. That area near Worcester looks pretty intense.
  20. I bought mine from here many years ago when we had a weather gadgets shop, you can still get them though from other places: http://www.strikealert.com/ProductInfo.htm Might be worth a check on ebay and gadget sites from time to time to see if you can find a bargain, its a lot less reliable than expensive detectors like say a spectrum thunderbolt but it is also much much cheaper. Just keep it a couple of meters away from any electrical equipment to prevent false positives.
  21. Strike alert has gone off a couple of times in the last couple of minutes, hmm.
