  1. No my detector is not picking anything else up though its accuracy becomes less reliable above the 25 mile range, there is a sharp shower over manchester at the moment, this might be generating some activity. If not then you might be picking up atmospheric bounce from the activity around cardiff.
  2. strike alert just picked something up at 6 to 12, might be a false positive as I can't see anything on the radar at that range.

    Dissipation

How about them for mamma clouds? I caught this image a couple of days ago, a storm that ran through Manchester about an hour earlier begins to dissipate in the twilight. Turned out rather well considering I'd just been to the shop and my hands were full at the time I took this.

  4. Aye it is similar to yesterday though convection today may be more intense in some places, definitely going to be keeping my eye on the radar today. Quite a few showers pepping up in western areas now.
  5. Convection is really getting going already and the first strikes are being picked up over wales now, could be an interesting day. *Switches strike alert on*
  6. Not seen any lightning or heard any thunder here today though my strike alert has been going off from time to time.
  7. Thundering already, just heard a rumble from a cloud to my west.
  8. Just been out for a walk in to town, that sun is very strong and is producing strong convection already. There has already been a couple of showers this morning, if things continue to develop as they are then there could be some quite nasty storms around this region later in the day.
  9. Was a small storm here at around 4 - 5 pm yesterday, was a lot of water and pea to marble sized hail in it. Produced some very loud thunder and brilliant blue / white lightning. Convective potential for today is looking good too so lets see..
  10. Looks like the storns are beginning to reach maturity here now same as they did yesterday, a large cb is moving in on my town now with very strong winds coming off though thre has been no thunder or lightning so far.
  11. We are long overdue for a hot, thundery year so this could be the one. I hope so anyway.
  12. I think theres a small area of convergence going on right above me, a cb is forming and clouds seem to be moving in different directions at the same altitude either side of it.
  13. Approaching CB west / south-west. Reduced size to fit browser window. Northward wind is too strong, looks like it may graze my area, no chance will I get a direct hit.
  14. Correct, I couldn't fit the whole cloud on one image though it missed my area. There is another one to my southwest which looks pretty mean at the moment.
  15. Huge black cloud to my south, wondering if it is the storm Paul B just experienced. Probably is given the wind direction.
  16. There it goes, distant rumble heard and rain stopping.
  17. Raining again here, I think this is a developing shower cloud as I can see strong updrafts in it as well as its outer edge. No thunder or lightning from it yet though.
  18. Lots of cumulus clouds obstructing my view but I can just about make out other anvil clouds in the distance, maybe I'll see something more before they begin to fizzle out once the sun sets.

  20. Is a bit, click the more button in the top left and you can grab individual images.
  21. Yeah it's the hills generating lift, that effect spawned new storms last night as well. I'm guessing the same thing is happening in Wales at the moment. There's our progress, storms in Cumbria and Ireland too. http://www.meteox.com/h.aspx?r=&jaar=-3&soort=satradar
  22. Type bb3 in to te radar zoom. Strike rate has dropped back to around 1 a minute now, getting moderate to heavy rain and strong gusts. *Boom* Ooo that one was close. Edit: I've got hail, pea to marble sized.
  23. Strike rate is increasing, getting around 2 a minute now though its mostly IC.
  24. Visible lightning, this cell is weakly electrified now.
  25. That cell I photographed above is now producing thunder as it approaches.
