Fizzled, again.
This has happened to every storm this year and it's doing my head in, the local topography should be enhancing thunderstorm activity not killing it.
-
Bit of rain falling here now, from what I can see I am under an anvil which is occasionally producing very loud booming thunders every few minutes between the distant rumbles I can hear.
-
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMM!
Felt that one bounce off my chest though none of these storms around me have actually arrived yet.
-
Very dark to my south and east now and can hear distant booming thunder.
-
Has been raining here for the last 30 minutes while the sun was still shining, could hear distant thunder before but not seen anything so far. Had something approach my area at tea time yesterday with constant loud rumbles but it fizzled in to a non event as usual.
-
Nothing on the detector but I could definitely hear thunder from that shower that blew through just now when I went to the shop.
-
Gimme gimme gimme a storm after midnight, oh some static help me keep the boredom at bay!
Sorry, couldn't resist!
Looked good at first but oh well.
-
I can see that Bradford storm out of my window, classic heat thunderstorm shape.
-
That area to the north of me seems to have lost most of its electrification just in time to graze my area.
Shame..
-
I think the atmosphere here is about to explode, there is already a large storm to the north of me, a large shower to my south west and there is some pretty serious convection going on.
Plus it is very calm and sticky now with hardly any wind.

Had thunder here this morning along with heavy rain as it woke me up, has just been dull and dreary since though.
-
Can hear sferics but they seem too far away to be coming from the Manchester cell. Well we will see when it gets a bit closer
They will be from the one on the image I posted on the last page, too far away to give our areas any fireworks I am afraid.

Sure is warm here in that sunshine though there's some nice convection going on right now, I wouldn't be surprised to see a storm before the day is out.

Because like most genuinely fun and exciting things such as racing and contact sports it involves danger and that danger can lead to injuries and fatalities, which of course makes it a magnet for the millions of joyless crybabies and attention seekers out there who write to TV / radio networks every day bleating on about nothing. "Moan moan moan moan moan moan"
That's why in a nutshell.

Its not over yet, these showers will keep going for quite a while longer.

Round 2?
Hmmm..
Will be interesting to find out.

While the supercells which passed through the region did not hit my area directly (not sure if that is a good or bad thing in hindsight after seeing the damage they caused) but I did catch the tail end of the Newcastle storm system.
It was not a spectacular or particularly exciting storm by any means as it was an American prairie type which produced constant booming thunder and a huge deluge which was enough to reduce visibility to almost nothing while driving and cause local flooding, but there was little visible lightning and no structured lightning that I could see. I got one report of over a foot of flood water in the lower areas of town from someone who had just passed through it once the storm had passed though I couldn't be bothered to go and photograph it at rush hour.
I did get a few pictures and a video record so I may as well drop them here, due to the size of the pictures I won't wrap them in img tags and give you the links instead.

Thankyou guys, I really appreciate it He looks so healthy just two days ago...

These Newcastle storms seem to be on par with the the Leicester storms from lunch time!
Lovely kitty! :'(
Sorry to hear that, my Millie passed away earlier this year after a several month battle against cancer so I know how you feel.
As for those showers in the west, I don't think that is the front as you can see it on sat24 and it is still out in the ocean.
-
I'm pretty sure this is the cold front - the temperature has began to fall. Tons of lightning for the time being, the storms are almost moving S-N now.
That's the storms down drafts, the cold front isn't here yet.
-
As I thought, that area to the south has intensified but it is not electrified yet.
Just had a visit from my dad on his way past, he said that storm that just blew through here has completely flooded the roads in lower Darwen with over a foot of water.
Anyone explain to me how the lightning detector and all these graphs show thousands of strikes over my area yet i didnt see one? Were they all up in the clouds?
Not sure but that is what happened here, boom boom boom constantly but only saw one flash.
-
Anyone know the current position of that cold front?
