  1. Really Mark there is nothing at all on the sferics.
  2. When you say watching do you mean on the comp or out of the window? Is there any activity? Do you think it would be worth heading to Haying beach or even up on to the downs if so what time.
  3. Cheers MS is anyone out chasing on the south coast? Are they coming in from France. Where is the predicted landfall of the storms? has anyone had any thunderstorms tonight?
  4. Hi all anything happening? I have not been around much today so have not been following events and have not had a chance to check the potential.
  5. Well that didn't come to much. I am calling it a night now.
  6. I am relocated up on to the downs to see if anything passes but I am not to confident. Some heavy rain though.
  7. LOL I had a feeling it was going to be a late night. Its around 50 miles from me so it needs to move another 20 miles until its within range of my strike alert. The thing the concerns me is nothing is showing up on IoW detector but that might be because it is an upper level storm, I am not sure if that has an effect or not as it will still give off electrical static but it might be counciled out by the squelch. But I thought they did not use any squelch at IoW.
  8. That cell out in the channel looks interesting and according to this it looks as if it starting to spark. It looks like my earlier prediction might just come off just a lot later than expected.
  9. Still milky blue sky's here. Do you know Cissbury Ring and if so is there a carpark with good views out to sea? If i am right its just down the road from you.
  10. Yeah ok. Did you add the LFC (The Red line) by adding the T and Dp or did the computer just put the line on with no imput from you?
  11. Wish I was up on Dunkery Beacon watching those storms approach.
  12. The sferic are only as accurate as the data put into them, I think IoW detector has not been calibrated recently. As far as I can tell NW detector is data from members detectors so if everyones detectors are slightly out of calibration the information when triangulated and plotted on the map the bigger the error. Maybe Paul or Nick can confirm my suspicions. Until then i chose to only use it as a guide. There is a chance!
  13. And that sounding was done before the trough was over the area so it is not reflecting what the atmosphere is doing right now.
  14. Were did you get that Skew T sounding from?
  15. I personally think you are being optimistic! The trough can clearly be seen by the precipitation line in the SW. The trough is forecasted to rotate on its axis and expands eastwards this evening. I am hoping this will be enough to force the weather coming in from the continent into some convective storms along the south coast of Dorset, Hampshire and into Sussex. Time will tell.
  16. It is a thin cap which need to achieve 22c to overcome but i think the temp will struggle to reach, if we get any imports i think they will be later this evening. I am thinking of heading SW to see what happens. Saying that a couple of showers have popped up in the channel and are heading towards the IoW. slb97 if you are still on line I have just sent you a PM, re what you can see.
  17. There is a slight cap over the SE today that needs to be overcome before anything happens. The south west has no cap but the convective ceiling is only 24500 ft. Hopefully the trough forecast to cross the southwest will force the situation a little bit.
  18. Your choice. I was expecting it would come to play this evening so am started to get excited. At 8pm I am hitting the road with the camera.
  19. Nice one, Its good to see that French cell had pretty much reached the English shores and left the French shores and it looks as it it has not lost much energy. It is so slow moving though I think it will give a great show as dusk turns into night.
  20. Mad! don't give up just yet if you live on the south coast. As the sun goes down we might get a good show out to sea and along the coast.
  21. saying that though Sat does show a cell reaching over the channel
  22. Yeah i am looking at IOW sferic that is why i asked, radar is showing nothing that has crossed the channel. I am just wondering if IOW detector needs calibrating. That is the reason i ignore NW sferics the more detectors the more risk of errors because units are not correctly calibrated.
  23. Anyone in Worthing, Bournemouth and Brighton? Can you confirm the sferics in the area?
