  1. I actually feel quite bad for you Shrewsbury and Telford members. Every time our region gets any interesting weather all I hear from you and others in Shropshire is that your getting none of it. I really hope you get a break soon as surely your day will come.
  2. Looks nearly identical to your avatars. Just a little more and you won't be able to distinguish those two pictures.
  3. Hope your right. And as long as the precipitation sticks around for a good while yet I suppose I should remain hopeful. Mind you we've had near constant sleet since half 2ish and at times almost pure snow, but it's more rain than snow as I type this.
  4. Just heavy sleet here at the moment. Not even pure snow and with areas of the midlands south of here getting proper snow now that's starting to settle I'm starting to worry.
  5. Lucky you. Still sleety rain here at present unfortunately. Could still change for the better though.
  6. Have had sleet here on and off since about half 2ish and still coming down. Sometimes more rain, sometimes more snow (with plenty of proper hexagonal flakes within it). Either way it's just serving to make the ground wet rather than white and judging by this thread only the Peak District is getting that privilege yet again.
  7. Agreed. I thought last night that all hope for today was lost, so this is a pleasant surprise. Saying that it seems to have stopped altogether, hopefully just temporarily.
  8. As nobble has confirmed it's snowing here. Fairly light though and not settling, yet at least.
  9. Yes it's on the opposite side of the road to Barons Court. It used to be Brownhills Glass (despite been in Walsall Wood) but it's some other company now.
  10. Well it was 9c about half hour ago, according to a temperature display on the side of a building round here, so I can't imagine snow and especially settling snow showing up round here anytime soon. I know it'll probably drop but it'll have to drop a long way for ideal snow conditions. Looks like yesterday was it for us round here at least. Still if the Peak District gets a pasting i'm hoping to convince my friend to take me up there for a walk over the weekend, preferably Saturday to see it at its freshest and to avoid possible thaw (remember going up there on the Sunday after the snow they had back in November and was greeted by sod all).
  11. Snizzling here at present, you can see it under the street lights. Very windy too. If it was big flakes of snow there would be a blizzard.
  12. There's been a pair of frogs in amplexus and a couple more males perhaps in my pond for a couple of weeks perhaps. No spawn yet though but it usually takes a while after they first appear and they're probably only the first of more to come. Plus the ponds iced over a few nights recently so it's obviously too cold for them at present. Plus this morning whilst it was snowing I saw one with its head poking up. The little fella must have wondered what was happening been as he would usually be hibernating during such weather.
  13. It surely must also depend on how early or late Easter is. Easter's in late March such as this year would have more chance of snowfall than those that occur in late April. Christmas on the other hand is on a set date so it's hard to judge conclusively I would imagine. From personal experience though I don't ever recall seeing snowfall or lying snow on Easter Sunday, whereas i've seen both of these on Christmas Day on a few occasions.
  14. Still more rain than sleet here though at the moment. If it came down more heavily there would probably be more snowflakes within it though.
  15. Started raining here. Starting to get a bit sleety now it's getting heavier which I confirmed by putting my sleeve out the window. Hope it turns to pure snow.
  16. Well there's a chance I suppose and as usual we probably won't know until the day itself. Might go to the Peaks on Saturday though providing they get what is forecast up there.
  17. Shafali on the 'Midlands Today' weather forecast predicting a few cms for areas between 200-400m on Friday. Too low here though it seems for a decent covering but still time for upgrades I suppose. There's a few tiny flakes of snow falling again now but probably won't last as it's partly sunny. All the snow we had this morning has completely gone now aswell.
  18. Only ever so slightly better than Winter 2013/14. But only because we had a bit of short lived lying snow back in January, which was thin and slushy anyway. Whereas in Winter 2013/14 the best we got here was a brief shower of falling snow, which though heavy was too brief and the ground was too wet to settle. We've also had snow today which as all but disappeared (though been as its meteorological Spring now I suppose it doesn't count as happening in Winter 2015/16, though it is still astronomical Winter so in that sense it can be included). But at least here been a long way from any natural rivers we haven't had the misfortune of floods like some people in other parts of the country this Winter just gone and that of 2 years ago, so I shouldn't complain really. But as one who looks forward to Winter for snow potential it's been a huge let down, and I can only hope that next Winter isn't similar.
  19. Maybe someday we will all be on here reporting on how our back gardens resemble scenes on a Christmas card.
  20. Still a bit of light snow coming down. However what settled earlier has already turned to slush or thawed completely. Always the way. Maybe Friday will give something more substantial. However at this time of year you really need it to be dry beforehand and to have very heavy snow and ideally at night to get a good covering. Still it was nice while it lasted.
  21. Getting windy out there now and snows getting heavier. A technical blizzard?
  22. Snowing lightly here yet again. Maybe I spoke too soon.
  23. Gone quite light again now but still coming down as snow. The heavier stuff though has given a bit of a covering on the grass, bins, cars and roofs. Wouldn't stick to pavements however been too wet and warm. Not bad going though for Winter 2015/16 (though technically it's now Spring 2016, in the meteorological sense). As I type this its stopped altogether and is starting to brighten up so I don't expect anymore. Looks like I got up just in time to witness it.
