  2. I think UK Stormchasing is like dangerous animal/snake/spider watching in UK you could have a go - you may get something of slight interest but you may as well not bother just take a trip abroad
  3. not sure you can blame the cloud shield on limiting convection in the S/S-East today yes - when you get it first thing in morning with an overnight MCS from France but it hasn't exactly reduced temps today has it ?we still managed 32C odd down here
  4. getting clearance in Essex now and no convection but at least we'll see itn ow if there is any

  7. each run is getting nearer reality and predicting less "severe" I'm confident we'll get our first storms of the year here in Chelmsford/Essex but I'm less than 50% confident of anything you could could "severe"
  8. CAPE isn't everything unfortunatley - just one of the triggers out of a number I remember a few years back when we had 1000+ CAPE - I can'tremember the exact circumstances - but we had 2 out of the 3 required triggers in the end we had a very hot and humid day - 30+C, 1000 CAPE, and BLUE skies all day:(
  9. GPS is a good point that plus the Radar - people won't struggle lol
  10. Everyone off the train - come on This was set to happen ....
  11. not a great day convective wise no lightning here no photogenic tops:( felt too fresh and cool to me - I reckon the early rain kept the temps lower than they could have been roll on proper summer
  12. it was trying to do something thought something may lower - but didn't load in anything other than Firefox for right colours !lol
  13. decent cell passing through Chelmsford now but non electrical lovely lowerings at front of cell though
  14. are the upper winds odd in Essex area ? just radar showing cells to west going due east yet looking at cloud bases abd duirection of travel overhead - not just the lower clouds- but upper ones too they're moving fromhere ENE?
  15. very squally showers going over chelmsford atm doesn't feel that thundery though - feels very fresh and cool
  16. those S-London storms tracking the Thames again looks like going to pass to the south ofMid-Essex
  17. nice Anvil to the west of here (Essex) - seems to be over London showing up as a small but potent cell on netweather radar
  18. ok some moderate decent convective rainfall here now - looking more promising
  19. looking a bit messy here in Essex convection yes - but nothing of note yet #i'd rather it be less cloudy and let temps rise I've notagood feeling about today now
  20. that cell moving away from Essex looked impressive from the back end looked like it could lower something - but nothing special it seemed to develop over Essex itself - we got nothing from it
  21. anyone tried a Skycan Lightning detector ? I had a STrikealert - which I broke - I'm thinking of getting another one @45 or so - but for 200 I could get a Skyscan do they have less false alarms ? they're what annoyed with me with the Strikealert
