Still not sure of the situation for Sunday. The forecasts are still mentioning the possibility of a period of snow before turning to rain later. Not sure if it will amount to much for our region. The model thread isn't much help, everyone seems to have moved on to the mild(er) weather that the models seemingly have nailed for next week now.

This was updated today. I find it quite encouraging, from a cold weather perspective. https://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/outlook -
Saw one filling up with diesel at Sainsbury's in Springfield about 6.30. Driving back on the A12 and it was starting to settle on the carriageway around Witham and the roads driving through kelvedon and Coggeshall were all getting covered. They don't even mention the possible snow in the south east Sunday/Monday. -
Agreed. I like the frosty weather generally but I don't really want weeks of it with no snow to go with it. Despite talk on the mod thread of troughs and features popping up providing snow opportunities, so far, it seems to be following the text book description of Artic Maritime air for this country. Air mass types WWW.METOFFICE.GOV.UK Air masses are classified into groups depending on their basic temperature and humidity characteristics.

A little bit disappointed with the 7th to 16th December outlook just issued. Looks like they are only seeing significant snow accumulating over the Scottish mountains before it all breakdown from the South West. https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/ -
Winter 2022-23 early thoughts - general chat
snowblind replied to Blessed Weather's topic in Spring Weather Discussion
I'm too young to remember much of the 70s. The vague memories I do have are of snow falling but not settling, a few slushy days and one really good winter with lots of snow and deep drifts - 78/79 I presume. I was living in the north east London burbs at the time so winters were probably better elsewhere. Still better than the 90s round here, except Feb 91. I remember the 90's winters being cold and frosty but pretty dry. Not much in the way of snow. There was one winter in the mid 90s with lots of snow in central areas but I was too far east so just dry and cold.
