  1. Thought I was going to have an ice day today but the temp crept above freezing, 0.1 to be exact for literally half an hour this afternoon!
  2. Look east weather just mentioned the possibility of more snow on Sunday. Guess they've seen the latest ECM...
  3. Got up to 1.1 today and there was a bit of thawing but still more or less a complete cover. Skies have cleared and everything is icing up.
  4. Ended up with 6cms in this part of north Essex so pretty happy with that. A bit of melting and compaction now depth down to 5cm. Roads are pretty bad. Temp has dropped slightly to 0.1 after peaking at 0.3 in the early hours.
  5. Saw one filling up with diesel at Sainsbury's in Springfield about 6.30. Driving back on the A12 and it was starting to settle on the carriageway around Witham and the roads driving through kelvedon and Coggeshall were all getting covered. 6. Just measured 4cm a few miles east of you. Still coming down. Looks like a winter wonderland out there. Temp steady at -0.1.
  7. Lowest temp last night -6.3, still -6.1 now. Very thick frost with all the spiders webs coated and looking beautiful. Lovely and sunny as well.
  8. Well the warning is still there for tomorrow and Monday and covering the same area. It was updated at 10:26 this morning to push the start time back to 6pm tomorrow.
  9. They don't even mention the possible snow in the south east Sunday/Monday.
  10. Low risk at the moment but enough of a risk for the warning to be issued so encouraging to see. Could be up to 10cm in places according to that.
  11. Got down to -4.5 at 3 this morning. Risen steadily since then now -0.6. cloudy, misty and very frosty.
  12. Briefly popped above freezing today making it to the dizzy heights of 0.7. Pretty sunny as well.
  13. Agreed. I like the frosty weather generally but I don't really want weeks of it with no snow to go with it. Despite talk on the mod thread of troughs and features popping up providing snow opportunities, so far, it seems to be following the text book description of Artic Maritime air for this country. Air mass types WWW.METOFFICE.GOV.UK Air masses are classified into groups depending on their basic temperature and humidity characteristics.
  14. Lowest temp last night was actually at 9 this morning at -3. Very frosty. Temp slowly rising now in the brilliant winter sunshine
  15. Only got down to 1.8 last night, or should I say at 8 this morning. Still only 2 now. Sunny but feels really cold out there. I made the mistake of going out without a hat this morning and regretted it.
  16. A little bit disappointed with the 7th to 16th December outlook just issued. Looks like they are only seeing significant snow accumulating over the Scottish mountains before it all breakdown from the South West. https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/
  17. First air frost this morning, just. Got down to -0.1 overnight. Slight frost on cars and grass.
  18. I'm too young to remember much of the 70s. The vague memories I do have are of snow falling but not settling, a few slushy days and one really good winter with lots of snow and deep drifts - 78/79 I presume. I was living in the north east London burbs at the time so winters were probably better elsewhere. Still better than the 90s round here, except Feb 91. I remember the 90's winters being cold and frosty but pretty dry. Not much in the way of snow. There was one winter in the mid 90s with lots of snow in central areas but I was too far east so just dry and cold.
  19. Some decent lightening around between about 11 and midnight last night. Some thunder, just about audible above the fan, no rain though.
