  1. A few flakes blowing in the wind but it's not really doing much of anything at the moment rain or snow in this part of North Essex.
  2. Mild Wednesday, Thursday, Friday. Cold again at the weekend. Current forecast highs are 5 or 6 but will probably end up nearer 2 or 3 as that seems to be the case that they over estimate max temps when it's cold, both BBC and Met Office automated forecasts. Today, for example, was supposed to reach a high of 4 here but only got to 2.
  3. It's been trying to snow here in North Essex for about half an hour. Every now and then there is a quick flurry and then it stops. All a bit frustrating at the mo.
  4. I'm in it as well now in North Essex so will see what happens. Fingers crossed.
  5. Just had a very heavy snow shower in North Essex, some truly enormous flakes. Went on for about 20 mins, was just starting to settle on the grass and cars and it stopped. Max temp today was 2.3 now down to 1.9
  6. I'm inside this one! but I suspect mostly for the ice risk reading the text.
  7. Possibly Friday... According to GEM or maybe Sunday according to the GFS Earlier today the met office forecast suggested Thursday but that's now gone in the latest update. So I would say towards the end of the week or the weekend possibly, maybe perhaps...
  8. All that remains of our little snowman is a snowball, but had fun yesterday morning.
  9. This caught my attention on the east of England Tuesday to Thursday outlook on the met office site this morning. "This period becoming much more unsettled. Mild but rather wet and windy up to midweek, before potentially becoming much colder Thursday with some snow and further strong winds possible." Also showing on the London and South East forecast so maybe something will come of it...
  10. Been out for a coup!e of hours with my daughter this morning building snow men and having snowball fights. Similar amount to December 4th, about 3cms. All gone to slush now though. Was fun to get out in the snow for a bit. Currently sleet and 0.8c.
  11. Very fine snow but getting heavier. Roads now covereu. Temp just above zero.
  12. A slight dusting in North Essex. Fine flakes still falling. Met office has me down for heavy snow till 11. We shall see what happens, can't see us getting anywhere near 10cms or even 5 unless the intensity really picks up.
  13. Contradictory forecasts again between the met office and the BBC. Yesterday the BBC had me down for snow from 2pm till 6pm the met office rain and, of course the met office were correct. Tomorrow the met office has me down for snow from 8am till 11am then sleet with a high of 3. The BBC has sleet at 7 snow at 8, sleet from 9 till 11 then rain with a high of 5. Will wait and see if there are any warnings but I bet the BBC will be correct this time.
  14. Another step away from interesting wintery weather for us on the updated met office further outlook. Tuesday's update sounded good for us but yesterday's and today's definitely backed away from anything interesting down here. Pretty much sounds like a continuation of what we currently have. Cold, at times, but not cold enough for snow and more rain. Uck!
  15. Looks different to yesterday's. 19th to 28th Jan definitely less wintery away from the North. Sound like a continuation of what we have currently. Tuesday's update was good but yesterday's and today's have got progressively worse.
  16. Thought this was an interesting read. UK weather: Another Beast from the East on the way? - BBC Weather WWW.BBC.CO.UK A phenomenon called Sudden Stratospheric Warming is currently taking place, but what is it and what does it mean for the weather in the UK?
  17. The BBC has me down for heavy snow from 2 until 6 this afternoon. The met office has heavy rain for the same time. Mmm I think I can guess which is more likely. Current temp 3.1
  18. Today's warning has been extended south into the Midlands but doesn't include any of our region. Saturday's warning still unchanged.
  19. Temp dropping away now from a brief high of 5 earlier, rain on and off. Temp now 2.7. Still bits and pieces of rain around.
  20. Latest met office forecast now only a brief period of sleet mentioned for tomorrow but Saturday sounds more encouraging, inline with Paul's thoughts. "Cold on Friday, with early sharp frost, mainly dry with broken cloud. Windy with rain and snow on Saturday, and possible disruptive accumulations. " They've now taken a slight step back on the further outlook from yesterday but could still be interesting for some of us, if we get a bit of luck.
  21. Sleet for southern and western East Anglia looking at the Orange lines on that
  22. Yellow warning out for Saturday now. This doesn't affect our region though.
