    Some decent lightening around between about 11 and midnight last night. Some thunder, just about audible above the fan, no rain though.

    Seem to be lagging behind other places today 'only' 34.2 currently. Did get down to 19.3 overnight. Currently 27.4 indoors upstairs so not too bad.

    Heavy snow shower a little while ago. Slightly too warm to settle but nice to see the snow falling. Sun is out now.

    Temp now 3 but all precipitation has ceased.

    Now down to 4.7 and a few flakes of snow mixed with the rain.

    Still 6 and raining in North Essex but temp has dropped 3 degrees in the last hour.

    Another frost last night, down to -1. A nice sunny day, felt pleasant in the sun but cold in the shade.

    Frosty again this morning. Temperatures didn't quite reach freezing dipping to 0.1. Not sure I'm looking forward to the upcoming more mobile weather and the so called cold zonality. Just means cold rain for us. Only once has cold zonality given any decent snow here, that was January 1984, 3 inches which just about lasted the day.

    I agree, 10 air frosts, some very cold days, some sunshine, some fog. Admittedly the last 3 days haven't been great, cloudy and cold, but has felt like winter to me. As you say, could just do with a bit of snow now. I guess it depends on your personal preferences but I think it's been an ok January.

    Must admit I've not heard of this island but according to Wikipedia it does suffer from occasional heavy snowstorms. It's quite a mountainous island and I guess it's close proximity to Turkey helps provide the cold air in winter. This snowfall wasn't just in the mountains but all the way down to sea level. What gets me is the sheer amount of snow must be feet of the stuff. Looks beautiful filmed from the sea.

    Coldest night of the winter so far at -3.2 last night. It was a lovely sunny morning but the fog has rolled in again. Temp still only 1.5.

    Fourth frost of December so far. Last night was by far the coldest at -3.2. Might finally kill off those summer plants that are still flowering in the garden. Cold day as well only got to 3 this afternoon, despite some welcome sunshine, and already back down to 2. Shame it won't last.

    Just looked in the model thread, yes I know, seems to be unraveling a bit, typically just as the met come onboard. It's all looking horribly similar to last January with cold air over northern England and Scotland and us lot in the milder air. They had some decent snowfalls up north but very little down here

    Met office text forecast mentions the possibility of snow or freezing rain on Sunday. Still 4 days away so may come to nothing.

    Another slight covering of snow overnight. Temp now -4 and the sun has just come out. Looks stunning.

    Some light snow still falling and temp now -1. The heavier stuff earlier has turned everything white again, just. Hoping it might pep up a bit.
