  1. Can confirm it's snowing lightly in this part of Essex. Not much but the temp is just below freezing so it's just leaving a dusting. Despite temps upto 4.5c this afternoon there is still a fair amount of snow here, I reckon 10cm of the 15cm that fell and it's all starting to freeze again. It would be nice to get a bit of a top-up tonight but I can't see it being much more than a dusting.
  2. A great snowfall in this part of North Essex last night ended up with 15cms, so a bit more than expected but who's complaining! When I went to bed at midnight it was snowing quite hard but very fine flakes and there was no more than 5cms on the ground. Did a quick lamp post check at 430 and it was still snowing but not as hard. When I finanlly emerged from my pit at 830 it was still snowing very lightly. There was also a bit of drifting with the most impressive being a 3ft one against my garage door, which made the task of clearing my drive that bit harder - have to say though that using a proper snow shovel is much easier than using a normal spade. A worthwhile investment. Went out for a long walk in the snow his morning, forgot quite how tiring it was walking through deep snow, not many people around and the scenary was stunning - love days like this. Temp maxed out at 1.8c this afternoon so there was a very slight thaw but not that noticable really. Temp back down to 0.2c now so reckon it will be pretty icy in the morning. Heared the local BBC Essex forecast this morning for the week. Mentioned patchy light rain or sleet Monday and Tuesday with an easterly returning on Wednesday for the rest of the week. Mostly dry with just the odd snow flurry though.
  3. Very fine flakes in north Essex but coming down fast. I guess about 4cm at present. Temp -1.8.
