Just to show you what it's currently like in the northern part of our former joint region before I go back across the border. temp -1.1 dew -5.
-
Well that's jinxed it. I remember they did this before a forecast easterly that failed to produce anything except drizzle and a few patches of slush. Might have been 2005 but not sure.

Probably dodgy weekend models again. Probably change again tomorrow. -

I was in the amber zone in Feb 2013 and got nothing but did get 15cm in December 2010. -

There's a new warning on the met office site for Monday morning in line with Dan Holly's tweet above. It's a bit difficult to make out from the warning map, especially on a phone, as it overlaps with the existing warning for Monday afternoon. So things look like kicking off a bit earlier than originally thought for the east of the region. -

Temperature and dew point pretty steady now. Dew point has been -3 all day. Temp has only increased by 0.1 in the last 2 hours. Now +1.1. -

I think it's even harder now the BBC have dumped the met office so much of the time their forecasts don't tie up. -

This is from the met office site for my location in north Essex. -

Seems to be an extra warning for snow on Wednesday, not sure when that was added. Now under a meto snow warning for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Temps below freezing on Wednesday and Thursday. The app shows heavy snow on Friday with a max of 1. Temps upto 3 on Saturday. A long way off so a lot can change by then but hopefully some decent snow cover before hand. -

Indeed. I just think it's poor of them. Maybe they will be correct but there is a clear risk that they are failing to mention on there website where a lot of people will get their weather info from. I should say they do have the met office warnings on there but think that just makes it more confusing for Joe public as their forecast contradicts it. -

BBC at it again. Only snow flurries according to their Sunday to Tuesday outlook. More emphasis on sunshine and no mention of possible significant accumulations, unlike the metoffice outlook for the same period. -

The amounts seem quite conservative as well. 5 to 10cms in the worst affected areas 0 to 2 elsewhere. -

Yes, agreed the extended outlook is good was just hoping for things to kick off a bit earlier. Not too early mind as have the in-laws staying for the weekend so don't want them to get stuck with us due to snow! -

I have looked at the text forecast and it is only mentioning scattered snow showers for Monday on the met office website. I am not worried about the computer generated app forecast but the text forecast is written by a forecaster presumably so that is my concern. -

I hear what you're saying it's just every time I read the met office outlook for my region it seems to be downgrading the snow risk. -

Have only had 30cms plus snow twice. Once in jan 1987, 30cms and Feb 1991, 34cms. I was in North East London burbs then. Now near Colchester so not sure if I am in a better position now or not. Deepest I've recorded here is 15cms in Feb 2012 and December 2010. If I manage over 15 this time I'll consider that a good effort. Having said that I'll be lucky to get anything at all according to the latest met office forecast. Only showing cloud Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and only mentions scattered snow showers for Monday in the outlook. -

The BBC are still winding me up with their temperature predictions. The local forecast at 1040 had a max of 4 for Sunday and the national folowing on had 5 for London on Sunday. The met office is going for a full 2 degrees colder!!!!
