  1. Two storms in the early hours. The first at about 230 with lots of lightning but not much in the way of thunder or rain. I was just dropping off again when the second storm arrived at about 4. Less lighting but more in the way of thunder and rain. Didn't think it rained for very long but it was heavy and there are still plenty of puddles this morning. Not bad considering I wasn't expecting anything. I'm not a great fan of very hot weather but if there are some good storms I can put up with it for a while. These are the first storms I've seen this year despite being under warnings several times.
  2. There's all this talk of exceptionally mild weather on the model thread, but the forecast for here is showing temps up to 10 or 11 for the rest of the week and the weekend. Doesn't seem that exceptional to me.
  3. Agreed. Second frosty morning in a row here. Fog this morning as well and temps are just above freezing now. It's felt quite pleasant in the sun but yesterday felt chilly in the breeze. It's been mild with temps upto about 10C, but not exceptionally so and nothing record breaking. In fact very similar to this time last year.
  4. So it now says colder in the North West instead of the South and East that was mentioned for the last few days. These forecasts are completely pointless they change pretty much everyday, you don't stand a hope in hell of working out what the weather is likely to be like in a week's time from reading them. Oh it might snow, no looks like being mild and dry, no wait looks like rain, oh it says cold again...
  5. I see Seattle are getting in on the snow now as well. Quite unusual for them. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-47189161
  6. We can only hope, that being 10 days away, it will have just as little chance of verifying as all those day 10 easterly charts.
  7. Hi guys, anyone on from Farnham/Ash way in Surrey? Just wondering if there was much in the way of snow? I would normally get reports and photos from my in-laws but they are away at the moment so if anyone else could oblige I would very much appreciate it. Thanks.
  8. It's getting close to me in North Essex, but with a temp of 1.6 and dew point if 1 I reckon it will be rain if it does make it.
  9. Temps falling slowly. Now down to 1.9 after a high of 2.7 2 hours ago. Bits and pieces of sleety snow falling from the sky. Dew point still 2 though.
  10. Check the met office extended outlook. They reckon there could be a longer cold spell with easterly winds towards the end of Feb. But then again they say it might just stay wet and mild instead so who knows. Next week definitely looks milder from Tuesday but after that it's all up in the air, so to speak.
  11. Sleety wet snow just started in north Essex, but temp is 2.7c and dew point 3 apparently.
  12. I might be imagining it but watching the radar loop it still looks to be rotating anti clockwise and the stuff to the south of London is developing and moving NW. Or is a Thames streamer setting up?
  13. Temp and dew point is on the rise. Temp 1.5c dew point 2. Brightening up, still a few patches of snow around.
  14. Temp has been hovering just below 1c for the last 3 hours. Dew point is 1. Still a patchy covering of slushy snow around.
  15. That looks awesome. Getting on for 10cm at a guess. Enjoy.
  16. This morning's GFS seems to be going colder again from next Friday...
  17. I'm in the blue zone. Trouble is I'm also in a dry slot. The front is just to the north west of me and the brighter echos coming up from the south east are dying as they hit the coast. Hoping for a little bit as the front moves south east.
  18. The potential snow for Sunday night has now been replaced by rain on the latest MO outlook.
  19. Slight dusting in North Essex, second one in a week. Well done to those in other parts of the region with good snow. Loving the pictures and reports. Can't say I'm not a bit jealous though. Edit: there is a bit of light snow falling now.
  20. Me too, but temp is rising. Back to 1 from 0.4 2 hours ago. Thicker cloud maybe.
  21. Very cold last night down to -6.7c. still -5.5c now. Looks very wintry with a thin snow cover and patches of freezing fog. I should add this is north Essex for anyone on their phone.
