  1. Some of the charts posted up earlier by Surrey seemed to indicate one might setup so fingers crossed for you. Will all depend on the wind direction and too early to know for sure at this stage.
  2. I think gem was looking good as well and was introducing even colder weather after next weekend. A long way off but I think the cold weather could be more resistant than the models were showing a couple of days ago. Even if it does relax its grip for a few days I don't think it will go far and could surge back again with any luck. Something to watch anyway.
  3. Is anyone else trying to triangulate their position by flicking between these snow charts and Google maps? Or is it just me?
  4. Because they tend to badly over estimate temperatures when cold. Try the met office website to get a better indication, widely subzero Sunday till Tuesday.
  5. Great overnight update from the met office for our region. Snow, snow and more snow from tonight until Tuesday. Wednesday dry but still freezing. Looks like the further east you are the better. But couldn't ask for a better update really.
  6. Pretty mild today, temps up to about 10. Difficult to imagine how different it's going to be in a couple of days time.
  7. Also made the mistake of popping into the mod thread earlier. Loads of bickering about a potential breakdown 6/7 days away and virtually no discussion about the next 5 days. Think I'll stay out of there for a while.
  8. Met office outlook for our region sounds great but then I made the mistake of looking at the BBC look east forecast, allegedly updated at 7 this morning, and it is total pants by comparison. Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday Sunday will be cloudy and cold with an increasing risk of snow, perhaps with some accumulations, particularly later on. A strong north-easterly wind will add to the chill. Mostly cloudy, windy and cold on Sunday night with further snow showers in places. Monday and Tuesday look like remaining cold with easterly winds bringing further sleet and snow flurries at times.
  9. Just a little bit of advice to keep you all warm. If, as seems likely, large parts of the region remain below freezing from Saturday night until Wednesday or Thursday next week, I would advise anyone who has a condensing boiler with a condensate pipe that runs outside, to lag it properly. I found out that mine wasn't during the BFTE in 2018. It froze and stopped the boiler from working. I managed to defrost it eventually but it had knackered the boiler and I had to wait 3 days for an engineer to get it going again, not fun. It's a thin plastic pipe, about 1cm in diameter, that runs from the boiler to the nearest drain and takes condensation away from the boiler. Even if you think yours is lagged check it for any gaps or broken lagging. It doesn't take much to freeze it so put the thickest lagging you can fit around it.
  10. Beautiful morning here. Frosty with blue skies and patches of mist.
  11. The met office overnight update for our region mentions "wintry rain" on Saturday night and scattered snow showers on Monday now. I much preferred yesterday's with talk of frequent and heavy snow showers. Seems to be changing quite a bit at the mo so, hopefully, it will change for the better again.?️
  12. It's a slightly dissappointing update, for our region, on the Met Office long ranger updated just now. This is for early next week. "Snow showers are possible across the country during the early part of the period, but most widespread and heaviest for northeastern areas."
  13. It's literally 7 miles to my east and north. Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
  14. Love this update from the met office on the east of England forecast. "Snow showers spreading inland on Saturday night, heavier and more frequent on Sunday. Risk of coastal gales ."
  15. Seems to be a bit more emphasis on cold and dry today. All variations on a cold theme though.
  16. Sometimes you just have to make a bit of an effort yourself, unfortunately.
  17. After a bit of snow this morning it was dry for a while. Now just light rain. Temp has gone up a bit, now 2.7.
  18. Seriously how hard is it to quickly click on someone's profile?
  19. Temperature has fallen from 3 to 2.2 in the last hour. Snow is a bit stop start so not sure it will come to anything.
  20. A few flakes blowing in the wind but it's not really doing much of anything at the moment rain or snow in this part of North Essex.
