  1. It did snow quite heavily for a bit in city centre Aberdeen but now back to rain. Dreich…
  2. Loving the snow pics. Hope everyone stays safe and enjoy the snow. It’s like a different country over here on the east coast. Blue sky and not even a frost.
  3. Got a surprise wee covering of snow this morning also. Snowing very lightly at the moment.
  4. Took a walk down to the beach. Got caught in a couple of snow showers but was good to get out. A lot of trees down or uprooted and a couple of abandoned trampolines en route
  5. Probably the worst wind I have ever seen/heard. Schools closed early this afternoon and it was almost like a flick of a switch around 3pm. Power went out for a couple of hours at 6pm. Loads of local reports of trees down, roads closed, folk stranded at bus / train stations. Quite scary. 98mph was reported just a bit further north of me. It’s still roaring outside right now but hopefully we have seen the worst. Will have to wait until the morning to see the full extent of damage. Hope everyone stays safe. It’s not much fun out there.
  6. Thats the power back on. What’s scarier than the wind is how much we rely on T’internet these days. Anyway, kids enjoyed the card games with by torch and candle light. I read earlier that we are to hit peak gusts around 9pm. Does anyone know if that is still the case ?
  7. That’s our power out now. It’s proper scary stuff out there at the moment.
  8. Power flickering on and off. I would imagine only matter of time before it goes off. Raining heavily now as well. Too early for a drink ???
  9. Local schools closing early. There was an eerie stillness about 20 minutes ago then as if someone flicked a switch it got very windy. Time to batten down the hatches.
  10. Around 1 degree here in Balmedie with snow / rain showers passing through. Nothing settling. Away to tie the trampoline down.. could be quite a scary 24 hours. Stay safe folks
  11. The Falls really starting to roar now. Also a wee bit of snow appeared at the top of Ben Lawers
  12. The Falls of Dochart were in full flow yesterday. Apologies if I have posted this is wrong group..
  13. A bit frosty this am but now all cleared. Heading to the beach later with kids for a bit of “character building” swimming !
  14. Had another cm or two overnight. Must be the 6/7 morning in a row we have awoken to a fresh layer. Oh , and our visitors seem to have claimed residence.
  15. Had another light covering first thing although almost all gone now. Also had a couple of visitors.
  16. Well that was bizarre. Left the house for walk in a blizzard with the roads all covered and came home an hour later with blue skies and sunshine, snow almost gone and roads bone dry. As if the snow hadn’t happened.
  17. Looks like last day of snow today before milder air / rain comes in tomorrow. Absolutely biting wind off the coast today. A lot of drifting just a bit further inland I believe.
  18. Was icy rain overnight here on the coast. Signs of snow slowing starting to thaw on the roofs of houses and sheds. Still some very light snow falling though.
  19. Met office graphics suggest we may get a bit of snow on the coast as the winds move to more of a south easterly on Friday.
  20. Blue sky appearing over the sea. A wee respite perhaps. I would guess at 3 inches fallen in the last couple of hours here. Considering we i only had about an inch this morning it’s not bad going.
  21. We have doubled the amount of snow on the last 45 mins. Great stuff. I think I may call another snow afternoon for the kids... Maths can wait...
  22. The heaviest snow I have seen this winter in Balmedie. Sky is dark with it.
