  1. Met o have extended their snow and ice warnings to Friday for the north east. Snow seems to be just missing us to the south of Aberdeen at the moment.
  2. Just a light covering top up here. Will be playing school catch up today after yesterday’s snow day. Seems a lot of snow still to come for southern/central areas then a few ice days to enjoy it.. dipped my toe into the model thread and it appears the end of the cold spell is nigh. I’m just going to enjoy it whilst it lasts
  3. Some small squally snow showers coming in now as per radar. There are some very dark clouds heading inland shortly though so may offer some heavier stuff.
  4. Just noticed that on radar. Fingers crossed. Looks quite a hefty amount of it reaches us.
  5. Looks like most of the snow now will be across central Scotland. It’s good to share. Must admit we had a self proclaimed “snow day” this morning. We didn’t have much but enough to have fun with the kids. Great memory making in these odd times.
  6. Didn’t get much snow overnight but heavy shower at the moment. Hopefully a few of these will move in today.
  7. Had a 5 minute proper snow shower earlier but turning back to really light snow/ light rain now. After a brisk walk to the beach earlier I can confirm that the wind is indeed coming from the east it was bitter.
  8. It’s trying it’s best to snow here on the coast. Anything falling from the sky is a mix of rain/sleet/snow. Hopefully once the cold air arrives we will see more of the latter. Interesting times ahead. Going to brave the beach later to blow the cobwebs off..
  9. Ever tried the Dinnie Stones at Kincardine O’Neil Dan ?
  10. Wouldn’t get too despondent folks. The really cold air doesn’t arrive until tomorrow night. Once it does and beds in then I think there will be a few surprises.. the updates on the met office warnings just goes to show how difficult it is to forecast at the moment. I’m sure there will be upgrades / downgrades / winners and losers over the next week. Will be good fun to watch tho.
  11. Am I correct in thinking that even the forecasters are struggling with the snow amounts and locations over the next 5-7 days other than the higher ground and south east of England ? The beeb forecast this morning had barely any snow on the graphics but mentioned that snow could fall pretty much anywhere on the east coast. Not expecting much over this cold period but radar/lampost watching will be mainly the kids education next week . An early intro to meteorology !!
  12. Noticed the met office have tweaked their warnings to further inland away from the coasts. They have also brought forward the amber warning to this afternoon..
  13. Immensely jealous of all the photos this am.. Great stuff. Cold and wet on the coast here. Looking at various weather apps the morning and the beebs latest forecast anything falling from the sky on the coast is likely to be rain/sleet. A proper pasting further inland though. After spending 30 years in Banchory though I’ve had more than my fair share. Hope everyone keeps safe over next few days and enjoy the snow. Keep the photos coming !!
  14. Spot on. I would probably include Aboyne in there as well.
  15. Have seen a bit of snow , hail and rain this morning. The beeb has this corner as rain for thurs / Friday now and snow further inland on higher ground. May change over the weekend so the coast sees a covering..
  16. Took a walk down to the beach today. It had been very icy over the last couple of weeks but ice now melting quickly. It certainly wasn’t as cold today as it has been. Managed to see a loan Dolphin though. Looks like we are right on the marginal line for any snow this week.
  17. Doctormog was quite correct. Woke to find a couple of cm’s had fallen overnight. Beautiful blue sky and bitterly cold. Perfect for a wee walk on the beach.
  18. Well that was a pleasant surprise. A couple of cms this am. Must have fallen last night as completely frozen
  19. -3 in Balmedie this am. No snow although there was a few flakes driving to work this am. Looks like it going to remain cold until middle of next week then getting a bit milder.
  20. Morning all. Pleasant surprise of about a cm of snow this am. Don't think we will see more snow this week over on the east coast. Could be interesting for folk further west though.
  21. Definitely a lazy Sunday type of day here.. thoroughly miserable looking outside. Just had a sleety/hail heavy shower that was stotting off the windows.. winter appears to be over with temps into double figures early Feb if the MT banter thread is to be believed. I may see a bit of snow tonight but temps will have to start dropping soon. Is currently 6 degrees here.
  22. Deary me. What on earth has happened to the model threads? Ever since they changed the threads they are almost impossible to follow.. shame as I used to like reading the posts of a learned few.
  23. No snow here but clear, crisp and cold. Venus and Jupiter sparkling over the harbour
