    More like rain here in Aberdeen now. Looks like it will get "less cold" in the early to middle of next week. Might be some potential for snow later next week and into the weekend though.

    Morning all The Balmedie sna shield was briefly penetrated overnight with a light dusting getting through. Very light snow, almost light rain when I left for work. Met O has light snow all day. We will see.

    Balmedie snow shield well and truly activated this evening. All the precipitation coming in off the east is somehow missing us. Hopefully get a wee top up overnight for the kids to play in tomorrow.

    Was just about to post that the clouds are definitely coming from a more southerly direction. Working south of Aberdeen right now and showers are far more frequent than yesterday.

    Some great pics. Seems we have got off extremely lightly on the north east coast. Had another light covering overnight but nothing to get excited about. Drifting appears to be the enemy of the roads up here at the moment. Looks like the worst of the snow has now passed so hopefully some of you can get out and enjoy it while it lasts.

    Great photos folks. If any of you are having issues uploading photos due to the size , I recommend downloading "Photoshrinker" app ( other apps are also available ). This will reduce the size of photos so they can be uploaded.

    We definitely have got off a bit lightly here in Balmedie. Ellon just a few miles up the road has had a right pasting this morning . Boss has just told us we can go home when we want....

    -3 here in Aberdeen. Maybe a cm of snow but nothing to cause any major disruption. Most of the heavy stuff appears to have fallen mainly inland.

    Scratch that. Heavy heavy snow jus started in Aberdeen. That was amazing how quickly it came across.

    Nothing at all the south side of Aberdeen just yet. Some pretty ominous looking clouds beginning to appear off the coast though. The snow symbols on the met office for my area appear to be changing almost by the minute. Must be a nightmare for forecasters at the moment.

    Very light snow in Balmedie and even less now in Aberdeen. Tomorrow and Thursday appears to when the heavy stuff appears.

    Met office has us down for rain tomorrow now. Wed/Thurs still on for heavy snow..

    Keep the faith. Im sure there will be some surprises along the way. just nipped out at lunch and there is definitely an edge to the wind.

    Interesting few days ahead that's for sure. Think I will be a little too close to the coast for any significant accumulations but you never know. There will be some places getting a right pasting so hope everyone enjoys and stays safe when/if the beast arrives !

    I see the mets latest update focuses most of the heaviest snow likely to be south and east. Are we likely to see any of the white stuff in the north east next week?

    With a bit of luck may get to take the kids sledging again next week. Not going to get too excited though as forecasts still have seasonal temps for here next week. Liam Duttons latest tweet expresses notable uncertainty of length and depth of cold spell.

    There is a fair amount of ramping going on in the MT. We must be close to this cold spell appearing on the longer term forecasts. My 7 dayer from the met o shows no real cold.... yet.

    The north east really haven't had much luck on the snow front this winter. Maybe the SSW will help create some snow potential from the east later in the month. Cant make much sense of the model thread these days ( not that I ever could ). It seems to have attracted more and more trolls which is a shame as I enjoyed reading some of the more learned posters.

    Blue skies and glorious sunshine here in Aberdeen albeit a bit chilly. Not remotely jealous at all of all you folk getting snow! There was a small threat of the snow getting this far east overnight but it appears to have disappeared. Anyway enjoy and stay safe if you get any of the white stuff.

    Just had heavy snow shower. Daughters haven’t seen lying snow of any significance so absolutely loving this !

    Morning ! Another dusting in Balmedie. I’ve come to the conclusion that the only science involved in meterology is the law of the sod !! 6 years I’ve had 4x4s , never saw a flake.. the year I get a wee golf....?

    Hello All Blue skies here in Aberdeen albeit a tad on the windy side. Havent seen a significant drop in temps.. yet... Will be interesting if we see any of the white stuff overnight.
