  1. All this incoming rain will be good for drought stricken Kent. The likes of Weir Wood Reservoir at 100% and Bewl Reservoir at 92% can be topped up. LOL If Carlsberg did droughts......
  2. Can't believe the rain, torrential for the best part of 8 hours now, remember the school run and it is still coming down.
  3. I see the usual Drought headlines popping up again after a nice dry period. Don't worry fellas, it will rain, as it quite often does in this country, although here in the South East we seem to be doing ok. Rivers are allowed to fluctuate.
  4. Being spoilt for storms, 2 nights in a row now. Humid, T&L with torrential rain like you get in movies, coming in waves. Been going on for a while and still rumbling in the distance.
  5. Had some great thunder and lightening last night about 1am. Massive booming thunder, woke the household up. Torrential rain for 20 minutes. Everywhere turning green and the drought in this area not so visible. Accordong to Hadley EWP, SE Eng is approx 43% of rainfall to end of Aug. I am going for the year 2022 to finish over 90%. Weather has a way of balancing out.
  6. Yes, Climate has been changing since the year dot, it is not a new thing that we have just realised, which some people maybe surprised at hearing.
  7. This country will never suffer from a long drought, imho this is nonsense. Rivers ran dry before and will run dry again. Then it will rain like we are used to and everything will be fine. We are in summer, a lovely summer it has been. Australia was all over the news a few months back as they were in a drought. Reservoirs back to being full suddenly and not a peep from the press or those saying climate change etc
  8. This is an amazing month of weather we have had, lots of different weather, plenty of snow chances. I do feel for those suffering flooding. In a world which keeps going on about GW, having a below average month makes a nice change. Am sure these will not vanish anytime soon. Looking forward to the next weeks weather and potential snow.
  9. Woke up to a few flakes lying on cold surfaces. 2nd snowfall event after the NYD flurry for 15 seconds. Oh, the excitement of it all. Snowing In Murcia atm, might change our summer holidays to winter holidays for Spain.
  10. Lucky that system didnt get to the SE, it turned into a drab, not much precipitation at all in the end.
  11. Like the snowfall in Gloucester the other day. People advised to only go out for essentials. Cracks me up. 1 inch of snow lol
  12. Sitting in the garden having a cold one, i swear I saw lightning to the south in the dark sky. Only 1 beer.... Beautiful evening - could be July.
  13. On hols on Great Yarmouth, constant rumbling for what must be an hour now. Edit. And now a flash of lightening. The drive back south could be fun.
  14. Lovely hot day. Got to 33.4c in my kitchen/office. Who would have thought that I would need to water my grass (partly seeded last week) 3 times today. Was hoping for a drenching, instead got about 10 drops on my patio.
  15. Love this weather working from home. Sun, heat, and the rain last night which is good for the garden. Back to heat. I am ok with the heat, can sleep in any weather to be honest, and when in the depths of winter when that bone chilling wind cuts through you I will remember these days.
  16. At last rain. Looking on radar they keptmissing us all day until the last couple caught us. Not liking the back and forth buttons on radar being moved to top of page on mobile. Why change it, perfectly fine at the bottom. Looks like the advert has been moved to top as well.......wonder why?
  17. All the expectation of rain and we got 3 attempts where the ground was just about covered with raindrops yesterday - the most rain occurred in the early hours of this morning. I am sure some areas got quite a bit and I swear I saw some lightening about 10pm looking south, but when i told the kids to watch out for more, I was let down and thought I must have been seeing things.
  18. Wind warning yes, but there was no warning for the rain which i think was the main issue with Kate1, esp due to intensity.
  19. MO got today wrong so far, plenty of showers entering from the East. Just at Selhurst on train and its raining. So much for dry few days lol
  20. I think that is because they never met their leak targets. And they most probably read the express about lack of rain in the forseeable future lol
  21. It didn't take long for mother nature to balance things out. According to Hadley Data Centre, the South East averages 504 mm Jan to Sept, and this year to 29th Sept we are currently at 439 mm. Considering the dry summer/year we have had, we are not doing too bad. Nothing unusual about this year when you look at the stats. Month by month is a different story. We will have a wetter than average year, that is my bet.
  22. Yes Ben, think you mean sleet event. Tom, I for one enjoy reading your posts, not sure what occured days ago but don't let these posters ruin it for you or for us. Please keep up your posts.
  23. Good inch of rain in that lot for us. It was a good dry summer, now as Surrey says, nature will do its best to balance things out. Garden enjoying this as much as I am. Golfing friday, so this is welcome for those hardened fairways.
