  1. Just back from a nice walk around Queen’s Park in Glasgow, the snow quickly melting when the sun came out.
  2. A good couple of inches here and another shower about to move it. School bus unable to make it up the hill so the kids happy to walk to school in the snow
  3. Brilliant time with the kids at Glencoe on Friday. Plenty of snow around and lots of fun sledging. Conditions got a bit wild as the day went on with drifting snow and very strong winds. The face masks came in handy to keep the wind out of the kids faces
  4. Beautiful up in Glencoe just now, chairlifts are open so taking the kids sledging, happy days
  5. Hi all, I am off work tomorrow and the kids are off school as it’s an In-service day. I was thinking of taking a drive through the Glencoe area with them to hopefully see some snow and enjoy the scenery. I just hope the roads will be fine if it does snow
  6. It was a great one day snow event yesterday. The kids managed to get out the sledges for a few hours after school and have a snowball fight with their friends. Still plenty of time left for winter to deliver something more special for all of us
  7. If this was the London area then red warnings would probably be in place. It’s always the same, I think it’s very poor the way the met office handle their warnings for Scotland.
  8. This is what winter should be like! The kids are excited and hoping that school is closed so they can enjoy the snow as it won’t last long.
  9. Exciting drive home tonight, good to see some snow at last with the added bonus of a few flashes of lightning. Hopefully this a sign of things to come by the end of the month and into February.
  10. Pishy sleet here, horrible day! I am hoping that later tonight I will see some snow while up at East Kilbride.
  11. Happy new year folks! I was out a walk with the family earlier, the sun was shining and was very mild but windy. After walking for about an hour or so and about a mile from home the heavens opened. I should have checked the radar before leaving the house with no waterproofs. The wife and kids were not happy with my advice on just to wear a jumper
  12. The models hinting at a possible cold snap from the north west around the middle of next week. Good chance it will deliver for the mountains and hopefully for low lying areas for a time even though it will probably be short lived. The way things are going this winter I would be delighted with a couple of cm of snow on the ground for a day so the kids and get out and enjoy it.
  13. Same here, very light snow falling here! I guess I can class Christmas 2021 as a white one
  14. Merry Christmas folks! Get ready for the snaw in January! It’s coming! The 12z GFS is pished
  15. Merry Christmas everyone! I hope everyone can enjoy their time despite what’s going on the world and hopefully we can get a cold and snowy spell as we head through January. Here are some pictures I took a few weeks ago while I was in Glencoe.
  16. Great post @A Winter's Tale Yes same here, loved his posts and also @Mr Frost
  17. Just finished a 12 hour shift at work and disappointed to find out the charts are not looking as good as they did a couple of days ago. It’s still early days as far as winter is concerned. Hopefully January can deliver for us.
  18. Yes ECM is fine for Christmas Day It’s great to see the chance of a white Christmas is there. At least the models are not showing the usual south westerlies. Exciting few days of model watching for us over the next few days Hopefully the UKMO is wrong and the GFS, GEM and ECM are correct.
  19. Same happened in our household a couple of weeks ago. Stuck the two kids in the same room to keep each other company for 10 days. Me and the wife remained negative and the kids are now back at school. Thank god for iPads, TVs and laptops. The schools are rife with the virus at the moment. Hopefully 2022 sees an end to all this!
  20. This is a great idea @Ravelin The 12z GFS still looking decent for Christmas Day for many of us, hopefully the ECM shows the same later.
  21. Well said! I think us in Scotland will be delighted if the 06z was to come off, many of us would see a white Christmas. I am 36 but can only remember 2010 seeing snow on the ground on the big day here in the Southside of Glasgow. Maybe there was in the 90s but I can’t remember? I have trouble remembering last week never mind 20-30 years ago Hopefully the 12z runs continue showing snow for us for Christmas Day. After the last couple of years of covid taking over our lives then I think it would cheer many of us up waking up to a white Christmas. I do hope the roads stay clear though for people travelling to see family and friends
