  1. Dogs, something is brewing to your South. Maybe your turn soon
  2. Very heavy rain here now with occasional close lightning and rumbles of thunder. This cell is over the top of us and moving very slowly North. Strike Alert giving these strikes as between 0 and 24 miles.
  3. I was awoken from my post night shift slumber at 1520 by distant rumbles. Now rumbling nicely here with occasional flashes seen and moderate rainfall.
  4. We have had a couple of sharp showers here in Walsall over the past couple of hours but no sferics.
  5. Sleet turned to snow here around 3.15pm. Moderate snowfall of some quite large flakes for around an hour led to a slight covering of around 1cm on grass and parked cars.
  6. A few distant rumbles and couple of flashes here from around 6pm until 6.30pm.
  7. Second storm here from around 7.45pm until around 10pm.
  8. Thunderstorm here from around 6.50pm until around 7.20pm. Gusty winds, thunder and lightining 3-4 times a minute and torrential rain.
  9. Thanks for that as it seems that there might be some lightning around now after all!
  10. Paul, Firstly, thanks for the improvements with V4. Keep 'em coming, I have another 5 1/2 years of Extra subscription to look forward to  . Secondly, it's probably me, but I can't seem to get the lightning overlay to display when zoomed in. Not much lightning today I know, but there was a strike earlier on which would not display in the zoomed view, and also the lightning overlay text does not appear in the zoomed view either when the lightning button is pressed. Hope this makes sense! Cheers, Simon
  11. Birds, one of my other great interests Birds seen in, over and from the garden in last 21 months. Canada Goose, Mallard, Cormorant, Grey Heron, Sparrowhawk, Buzzard, Kestrel, Black-headed Gull, Herring Gull, Lesser Black-backed Gull, Woodpigeon, Collared Dove ,Feral Pigeon, Swift, Swallow, House Martin, Pied Wagtail, Grey Wagtail, Wren, Dunnock, Robin, Blackbird, Fieldfare, Redwing, Mistle Thrush, Blue Tit, Great Tit, Magpie, Jackdaw, Carrion Crow, Starling, House Sparrow, Goldfinch.
  12. Thanks MCT but it was quite easy really! Not sure about the shooting star though. Can't see it myself, but the rotation of the earth in relation to the stars can be seen, even in the space of around 3 minutes
  13. The ISS looks like this (taken on a fairly long exposure of course!) I took this on Sunday night whilst looking for the Perseids. I only saw it for the first time (with the shuttle chasing it) last week and was amazed at how bright and easy to spot it was (if you know where to look!) As well as the link to the NASA site Andy posted, try http://www.heavens-above.com/selecttown.asp?CountryID=UK. Just type in your town name and click on ISS or shuttle. The two will be undocking next Monday so the chance will return of seeing them seperately again
  14. That was the space station. I understand the storm will get better after midnight!
  15. If it was West to SSE it was the ISS. Saw it from here and it was VERY bright even under street lights. Brighter than anything else really!
  16. They should be brighter tonight but not sure about pics. I am going to give it a go anyway on a long exposure.
  17. The "experts" have been recommending viewing with the naked eye as being the best. Certainly looking nice and clear anyway!
  18. A quarter past 9  I take it you mean the shower! Any time now is good ,with the display after midnight the best apparently.
  19. Don't forget to look for the ISS too, passing over the Southern half of the UK just after 10pm from W to SSE
  20. Nick, See my post above or follow this link http://spaceflight.nasa.gov/realdata/sight...amp;city=London Remember that the shuttle is docked with the ISS so only one sighting will be possible
  21. Just back from a week in Wales and we saw the ISS and Shuttle (Endeavour?) too on 9th, the shuttle directly following the ISS on the same track. They both really stood out in the darkness of the countryside with the ISS brighter than the Shuttle. Saw the ISS again last night (with the shuttle docked but couldn't see that!) There is another visible pass tonight of both (docked) at 2140hrs so will have another look, but it won't be as good with the street lights as it was in Wales with the proper dark! Fingers crossed it is clear on Sunday night though!
  22. Another cell just to the South of Birmingham looks to be intensifying as it approaches . Will have to see if it is round 2 :o
  23. Great shots there Phil. Torrential rain in the City Centre though so didn't get the view you did. I did, however, get drenched!
  24. Had the benefit of this as I left work in Brum at around 9.30pm. Those rumbles were really something, eh? Wished I hadn't parked on the top floor of the multi storey car park tho
  25. Nice thunderstorm in Brum as I left work at around 9.30pm. Flashes every few minutes and some really loud booms of thunder. C-C lightning seen on the drive home but only a few distant rumbles here at home which have now stopped.
