My sister is at halls at Salford uni (high rise building) she says its pretty rough there at the moment.

flickering here too! Wish my husband would leave work!!Lights also flickering here, getting much stronger and my house sits fairly low down so it will be worse up the street
-
really gusty here, I'm only 'down the road' from you.Not really picking up here, still very calm
-
Dreading the school run (on foot, with toddler in pushchair, 5 miles, yuck!)

Keep safe everyone!

Was breezy when I left for the school run at 8.30am, now calm. No snow to report overnight but its damp out so maybe we had a bit and it melted or maybe it was just rain.
Keep safe this afternoon everyone.

Slight snow covering here tonight.

Its been a glorious afternoon after this mornings heavy rain and snow, in fact you wouldn't know either had happened at all - the ground is dry. Perfect surface for any overnight snow?
-
Huge snowflakes here for the past hour, lighter now. Was surprised to see it sticking considering the torrential rain we've had all morning but it did. Going slushy now though!
-
Its snowed quite heavily in the past hour, now the surfaces have a thin layer of slushy snow. Quite surprised at how much its snowed today, its really been sine aroumd 9.30am - some heavy bursts with big flakes, some drizzly snow but its certainly been a constant feature.

Had a lovely burst of heavy snow, took my toddler outside to see it (the first snow shes known!) And she was mesmerised - must follow her mum! Well its still snowing lightly here, but what we have had has made my day

Big lump of precipitation headed my way in the radar, wonder what it will fall as!
-
SNOW!! Ok it was only 5/6 flakes but I've seen snow!
-
No snow, only sleet

Well that was a bit of a damp squib! MetO last night had heavy snow forecast for my area at 3am (light snow 1&6am) I got up at 2am and 3.30am to clear skies. No sign at all this morning if it snowed after that.

Very festive Merry Christmas to you all!

stunning! We've had rather alot of damage today, but the main talking point for everyone around here was the cloud iridescence!
It has to have been the most beautiful, and biggest display I've ever seen, even in books!
At one point 1/5 of the sky was pearlescent with brighter rainbows mixed in.
I couldn't care less about anything else today, I feel privileged to have been able to witness this display which lasted for well over an hour just after the cold front had moved through.
The photos don't do it justice but hopefully someone will have got better
Wonder if we'll wake to a light covering of snow tomorrow, meto still forecasting snow showers for my area.

Wind is my least favourite weather, hoping we're nearly through the worst locally. I have fence panels down and many friends have lost trampolines! Just checked meto and it now says light snow showers for my area at midnight. Certainly didn't say that earlier!

I think locally we're in the eye of the storm, though we may have 40mph gusts, nothing too nasty. Not holding my hopes up for any amazing wind gusts here... seems like im right in the path of the low :/
-
certainly not half term everywhere, we've had the past week off - hopefully my area will miss the most severe weather though! One good thing. Thankfully it is half term next week, and there will not be the usual school run or children walking to school at the worst time for the strong winds on Monday morning. I am off from work too and will be keeping mine indoors. I won't even be driving down to the coast for photo opportunities!

I hope your joking......!!!Hmm now the question is, being on the Isle of Wight and in a prone area for this storm ( Regarding winds) do I or do I not walk along the seafront to experience these winds or will it be too dangerous?

My conservatory has began to leak this week Looking forward to seeing what things look like in 12hrs time, hopefully we'll have a better idea on the track of this storm.Bring it on!! this is so exciting, If I can't get to work I will get my cam recorder out. I can't decide if I should go to the seafront or go to the wind farms?*must check my house insurance tomorrow* I might finally get my leaky conservatory replaced!
