  1. Tiny flakes but millions of the buggers,it's like a small blizzard outside. Really is like being in another country, looks awesome with the powdery snow (not wet and marginal for once!) blowing all over the place.
  2. Snow very light and fine here, blowing hard in the wind. But it's already making roads slippy, even gritted roads it is starting to accumulate especially to the side of tyre tracks. Driving into my rural village, the roads were especially icey. Plenty of ABS and tyre spin action going on almost went into the kerb turning onto my road!
  3. FWIW, two things of note. There is a bit of heavy precipitation coming out of France that is really quite far east. And two, while it is very much a nowcast situation, it's worth noting the 12z HIRLAM does push the heavier snow 30 to 50 miles east. Most of west midlands covered nicely, East Midlands are still right on the edge, might get the odd light shower as it breaks away.
  4. Euro4 has pretty much been an abomination for earlier today though. It didn't show any snow anywhere in south England really.
  5. South west and into wales. Only the lighter stuff entering midlands.
  6. To be honest the Arpege has the eastern extent almost exactly bang on with the radar. It's about 50 miles north, but that is it more likely just arriving early.
  7. It's pepping up quite nicely as it goes past us to the north.
  8. Where are you Shaky ? North West Leicester here and just the lightest of flakes falling.
  9. Precipitation seems to be heading more westerly now, was almost going directly north past Leicester for a while. Which is good news, finally have some heavier stuff heading towards us deprived ones And can see some flakes in the sky...
  10. Yeah hopefully not just aprop. Will find out when it updates again.
  11. Yeah has to be the most frustrating part of the midlands, hard to get any good snow but rain barrells on through midlands easily and consistently in the summer. Maybe we should become rain enthusiasts instead
  12. Lol noticed this too, almost seems impossible and yet it's happening right before our eyes. Dies 5 miles south of leicester, then 5 miles north of Leicester picks right back up again. So odd.
  13. Somehow it's gaining intensity after it gets past Leicester..this is torture.
  14. After waiting several hours for the more intense band of PPN and worrying initially it was all going to be too far west, it looks to be slipping past us to the east. The irony! hopefully it swings this way a bit.
  15. Got it. As the ppn hits the easterly winds to the north slightly, it's firing it right across our way. Looks good.
  16. Yeah weird, never seen such wild disagreement between models.
  17. How are you identifying this streamer ? I can't see one, but then I am not particularly adept in the art of model/radar watching.
  18. 06z HIRLAM for 10am (now basically). 1pm 3pm 5pm Still plenty to come folks and gets heavier as day goes on...
  19. Not sure if serious. We had one snowfall of about 7 or 8cm which is the most we've had in about a decade, if not more. Leicester folks being "greedy" with snow. I've heard it all now...lol
  20. Agree not sure what this guy is seeing, but Hirlam and Arpege have been far more accurate with this than the other models. Not perfect, but not bad either.
  21. Leicester folk and others in the "dry/empty gap", I know it's super frustrating, but lets chilllllllllllllllllll. This precipitation wasn't even due to be where it is currently for a few hours, and it's modelled to easily fill that gap later in the day. Apparently it should pep up later too. 06z Hirlam and Arpege arrive soon, lets see what they have to say. But I am still quietly confident we will see some snow, even if it is difficult to watch the radar at the moment!
  22. Nope, it wasn't supposed to according to the models. But as Chris Fawkes pointed out, the radar for France showed a very different situation to what the models showed. Hirlam, Arpege and GEM actually were closest. GFS and EURO4 were noway near. So they had the weather wrong at T0 for france, so it's no surprise they are so far out with this ppn coming into England so progressively. I've been on here 5 or so years, never seen the models all get something so wrong.
  23. Why are people saying it's over already ? Just check the GEM, ARPEGE, HIRLAM... it's not done, it's barely started. Precipitation will move north and even gain intensity according to the models for the next 6 hours. Sure, the above 3 could be wrong, but they have beat the usual top dogs with this situation so far (GFS, EURO4 etc).
