  1. Another heavy shower here. Radar looking really quite nice. Very conducive temps too. Just need the strong nearly-spring Sun to keep away.
  2. Yep. It's funny that today has the least hype and least predicted, but has already delivered the most
  3. And back to clear skies and sun again... short but sweet showers so far. Fun to see.
  4. Absolutely belting it down here, snow is so intense it's gone dark outside! great scenes. Sexy little beast of a shower
  5. It's pretty heavy here!, and the snow is coming from the SE rather than directly east. That big bulk of precip is heading right for us, so long as it keeps intensity!
  6. Ssssh, you're making me jealous. You and your high elevation and heavy showers!. Only the snow deprived are allowed to post
  7. Some of the best snow of the week so far Coming down steady, settling well. Not that prior to now had set the bar very high
  8. Yep is heading for us, but remains to be seen how much intensity they keep.
  9. I have faith it shall be defeated ! pray to the snow gods...
  10. About to get some light/moderate showers in Leicester by the looks of it very light mind, but appreciated none the less.
  11. I like how MetO just issued an amber warning the exact shape of the big blob of precip on the radar. Someone clearly just went "whelp, well we didn't model that one", drew an orange box around the precip and pushed it out as an amber alert now-cast lol.
  12. Ohwell... Maybe global warming will give us some epic snow events in the future. Silver lining and all that.
  13. Lol yeah. But that stuff just next to us is so light, you're not missing out on much One day the midlands will get a 40cm dumping...one day...
  14. South staffs is at least more favourable position wise than most of the midlands for the upcoming low... but yeah, still looks like it may not even reach as far as your area
  15. Do you normally do well with easterlies in Nottingham ? They're always bad for us down here in south Leicestershire from what I can remember (north Leicester tends to do a bit better). a) They usually dissipate before arriving and b) There seems to be some kind airflow channel which mean showers nearly always go either north of south. Probably due to land topology, not sure, but seems to be the case.
  16. It can be pretty frustrating living in the midlands ey... whether the system comes from the north, east, south or west.. it is always reduced in strength and intensity by the time it gets through to the middle of the country. It means we get scraps basically every type of system, and we will pretty much never get the highest snowfall totals. The only time I remember us doing better than anywhere else was an event several years ago where cold and warm air met over the midlands and the precipitation formed right above us.
  17. Need EURO4 06z to come out, the 00z finished at t48 just as it arrives, looks like it won't get too far into the midlands but one thing we can verify from this week is that every single model is pretty poor at modeling how far inland the precipitation gets. Wouldn't be surprised to see lighter stuff go all the way up to north midlands, even if it's not modelled. Seen similar things happen several times this winter. In other news, -6c in the car this morning (I live rural). Brrrrrrrrrrrr!, and about 1cm of snow. Looked pleasant and crisp, nice surprise.
  18. Yes well Leicester snow shield is historically a market leader and has numerous awards for it's strength
  19. Nooo this sweet looking heavy shower is going to miss me I think. Doh! Ohwell, hopefully more through the night
  20. Cool that amber's are out, don't cover much of the midlands yet, but they're very likely to be revised leading up to T0.
  21. I'll take it. But i'll answer you seriously. If you are at the location indicated under your avatar, currently says your area air temp is 2c. Explains the melt, even if ground temps are below freezing.
  22. My attitude ? Lol - you're constantly negative, moaning on here that snow is melting as if it's someones fault or the world is against you. There is nothing ridiculous about snow melting. If the conditions were right for snow to not melt, it wouldn't melt. Simple. You're acting like a petulant child who had his dummy taken.
  23. Well, i'm sorry you don't like the way the world works. If I could make snow fall at 10c, I would!
