Max of 38.2C at 2pm now dropped to 36C. Lost the southerly breeze more wsw with the distinctive smell of burning grass - possibly Risley? Many years ago I had a morning paper round and I can still remember the hyped up 80F what a scorcher headlines in the Express. Difficult to believe 40 years later we're now at 100F. The rest of the headline is probably still the same

Model Output Discussion - Autumn arrives
Sun dog replied to Cheshire Freeze's topic in Forecast Model Discussion
Bit of an odd one with the majority of people having experienced summer holidays in far warmer climates. At the moment the only justification appears to be between T177 and 201 on the 06z. Presumably the real concern is the lack of an overnight break with temperature remaining at 28C. Surely a record? -
Hahaha you're far too generous. A sunny afternoon in June and it merits a weather warning. Should have been a warning about some of the sights in our local park.

Currently staying in Corfe Castle, Dorset the difference between here and the North of England is staggering. Brown fields of sunbleached grass everywhere. Spectacular displays in all the gardens, people with homegrown sun tans. Even though there's been a few clouds around and a cool sea breeze when the sun does shine it's really got some strength in it. Managed to get sun burnt in 2 hours. Looks like it's been a great summer in contrast to back home in Manchester where it just hasn't got going. Still can't complain the Scots have had it far worse.

Feels like last night's storm dropped a phenomenal amount of pollen. Double dose of antihistamine this morning just about making it bearable. Hopefully regular doses of coffee will keep me awake.

Sheet lightening and heavy rain. Superb show lighting up the night sky every couple of seconds. Best lightening storm in recent memory.
