Changing the topic from Weather...
I am goin to Dubai, Australia (Sydney) and NZ (Auckland) next May to travel. Anyone got any tips of where to stay?
Yes, you stay here in my home and I'll go for you and check out the accommodation.

Beautiful blue sky now and the sun out. If it wasn't for the fact that I'm wearing 2 pairs of socks, thermals and jumpers and I've still got a cold nose, I'd say it looked like a lovely summers day out the window.

A rumble of thunder but no more hailstones, just wet.

Hailstones.........lots of them!

Tadpole don;t do either especially the first part...Please. To be honest car roof probably a good one.
No chance of the first one, hate heights! Car roof is Ok providing it's in my road, parking is a nightmare here, if not the wheelie bins will be OK.

Are there any rules with this comp that I should know about?
For example are flexible tap measures allowed? can I use the deepest bit of snow that gathers by the wall due to the wind? are strategically place bits of wood so it gathers deeper on the table and then remove before taking a photo allowed?
Or are there more sensible rules? just thought I'd check.

I'm frozen, I've had to put the heating on. It was 15c in the living room and that's too cold for me. Was hoping to keep it off daytime 'till the 6" of snow descends on Sydenham this week

I'd like to join the snow cup Tom, representing Sydenham.

33 years ago when I left home and started paying my own gas bills. That was a shock!
And having been brought up listening to how I was born just weeks before the winter of 62/63 and how difficult it was to keep me warm as a new born I've always dreaded another winter like it.
More so now as gas is so expensive now.

saturday
a gusty westerly flow
trough over us so expect some pretty sharp showers
temps may struggle to 10 degrees
also note the 528 dam line over midlands
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
sunday
a breezy westerly flow
looks mainly dry but cold still
around 10 degrees
the 528 dam air buggered off pretty quick

if we go by ecm monday may need a watch for now
only goes to monday 00 but i think we can work out the next run
Yep, the next 48 hours will be 25c and sunny all day? Don't think I've got the hang of this yet
Tuesday will be cold and wet, it is every birthday I've had, except my 40th when I was in Thailand

Is this any good or not worth the money ?
It's my birthday next week and thought I could drop hints to family.

Night night Jp and everyone else, I can now go to bed ....

I've discovered I can't go to bed with out reading the JP weather reports. Interest has turned in OCD!
I can now go to bed, night night.

Blue sky gone now and the air feels colder and damp. Best get the washing in that rain must be closer.
Had a nice morning raking up the sycamore leaves from next doors tree. Tempting to give them back but they make good leaf mould. Might as well get some benefit from them in exchange for casting 75% of my garden in shade all summer long.

Reading the 'wives want the heating on' posts did make me chuckle. I used to be like that to, but 21 was the max I liked it.
I've discovered that when one becomes a 'woman of a certain age' you get a built in heating system, and now it's hubby complaining it's cold instead. He just gets told he's inappropriately dressed

thanks bjaykent thats nice of you
lets have a ramp
still know how to have a good ramp as well
I was just thinking how nice it would be to be able to over winter in the Caribbean.
Long hot sunny days, swimming in warm seas, sitting on a beach relaxing then warm nights with a gentle cooling breeze.
Now I'll go to sleep thinking of snow, ice and cold!

Kicking off a bit in here ain't it?
They're probably tired and grumpy.
Today I learned I am too old to go to bed at midnight, and wake up at 4.30am and work al day. Could do it when I was younger but not any more it seems.
I've decided I love hot sunny days, snow for around a week, autumn and spring blustery days, but I don't like gales.
Been through too many now and there's nothing nice too look at during or after them, only destruction.

As people's locations have been disabled in order to take some load off the forum it's obviously difficult for us to make out where people are when they report their current weather conditions.
As a result of this, can people reporting on their current conditions state where they are in their messages please? Either start off by saying something like "Here in <your location> it's chucking it down and blowing a hoolie" etc. Or simply report the conditions and end with your location in brackets.
Here in south Wales it's raining a little but the wind has dropped off a lot.
Or put it in your signature so it appears automatically

Xmas is difficult here. My father in law died on boxing day 11 years ago whist hubby and I were at Kempton races. We were going to drive up up to Wales to see him after the races to stay for a few days.
Hubby felt dreadful that we had been having a laugh and losing £2 a race whilst his dad had been rushed to hospital with a heart attack. His wife hadn't called us because she knew we couldn't get there in time so waited till the races were finished.
Our youngest was 13 at the time and has now moved out so we don't bother much now. No tree, but I do hang chocolates on our Jade tree instead.
Looking forward to grand children one day but both both kids have told us we have a long wait yet. Xmas is great fun with young kids, and teenagers if they're not at the grunting stage, but when they've left the nest it really does seem empty.
But the lack of kids and father in law doesn't stop hubby entering the street 'build a snowman in your front garden' competition. It's very competitive here.
