Joe B as usual - on his twitter feed - "UK will get a battering this winter" - so we'll see - he seems absolutely certain and has been on about this particular winter 2012/13 for a good couple of years - so get ready for a good un!
I hope so.......!!! We have had some pretty cold mornings in the yard lately, think it will come early this year - End of November, similar to 2010.
-
Hi all, Anyone got any updates on this winter for our area? Cheers
-
I hope its cold cold cold. Don't want snow - its too much of a nightmare!!! Below zero will do me fine.
-
Freezing in Neath this morning. So.....weather pro's....anyone got any long term predictions for this winter? do you think it will be a late starter or early starter? let me know.....believe it or not, I started maintenance work on the gritters today !!! cold times......
-
I thought todays snow was winter last hoorah but from the 11th of April on looks pretty cold with more chances of snow .
The long term weather reports I have gives another cold intrusion on the 11th-13th. Watch this space.......

I currently have reports indicating Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday and Sunday night as below zero???? barmy

Where the heck has this cold come from? I was out gritting last night. And..... long term forecasting is indicating 'RED' alerts all week with temperatures dipping below zero during the nights.

Anyone think we have seen the last of the wintery weather?
-
Last year I completed more gritting applications in March than I did in February........
Something tells me that people are jumpin the gun with 'spring is here'........famous last words ???.......
I wont be packing the gritters away just yet!
-
Please don't close on Sunday......I find the forum a brilliant source of information as you all seem to know more than the Nationals do!
I was still completing some light gritting in March last year....... think its a bit premature, you never know whats around the corner.....
Come on Jackone.......keep the belief alive! lol

Temperatures going back down by the weekend.......
-
No.......don't say it! Think we have a little left to come yet.....next weekend and winter always has a sting in its tail in March....
-
Temperatures and GS temps looking really low tonight across S.Wales - with the surfaces as wet as they are - very bad signs of serious ice tomorrow morning. You would think the met would have a warning issued!
-
Just got back from gritting - coldest night by far this winter!
Bring on more freezing cold nights.
-
Just finished a gritting shift for commercial premises along the M4 corridor (Briton Ferry - Newport) - Rain Rain and More Rain. Companies wanted a grit just in case of the worst case scenario.......better to be safe than sorry!!
Looking cold from Wednesday thou!!! Happy Days get rid of the 100 tonne of salt i got !
-
Just got back from Gritting my sites along the M4 corridor (Swansea - Cardiff). A little bit of rain around 9pm but short lived, but it is cold, not freezing but cold.
Surfaces at present are very wet so if temps do significantly drop, without a shadow of doubt the roads will be lethal tomorrow.

Rain/Sleet/Hail in Neath but the mountains around the valley are white.
Very saturated ground - cant see it sticking on low ground.
-
Hows the models looking today all?
-
This weather is mental ! like a see saw. I dont know where I am?
-
Cold throughout the 6 Nations - plan the gritting around the games!
-
Lets have it!
-
If everyone thinks it will happen and says to thems selves it will happen and visualise it will happen - IT WILL HAPPEN!
Hasnt worked with the lottery yet thou!?

I carry out private gritting for western power/welsh water/boc gases etc etc. In 2010 I started gritting in the last week of November and it went right through to the second week of January. It kind of fizzled out then for the second half of January and all of February was mild. We did the odd gritting in this period but it was neither here nor there. Winter then had a sting in its tail and come back in March where we done a tidy amount in January before spring took over. Good Year over all !!!
