Excellent photos, John. We had a pair of them in our garden last week, and they did nothing but chase the other small birds away from the feeding trays etc, including a couple of times a Robin.
The snow was certainly far wetter this time around, the ground is wet on surfaces that have been swept clear of snow as opposed to last week when thing were relatively dry underneath.
No idea, SS. Like you, quite a bit of last weeks' had thawed especially of roofs etc. but had remained largely intact on the lawns where it hadn't been disturbed.
The Taunton area seemed to be in the precip 'shadow' of the Blackdown Hills, which were getting a lot of snow, leading to only rain with a bit of sleet here until about an hour or so ago when it turned to fine snow
