  1. Heading to the seafront now. May be too far east to see any lightning in the Portsmouth area, but we'll see
  2. distant rumble heard. will be heading down to worthing pier later if this carries on
  3. The air certainly has that mwahahahahahaha there might but probably won't be a storm here tonight, feel about it. edit: acas spotted among the cloudiness...
  4. Are we gonna get a storm here or near here tonight? The short answer is no. The long answer is absolutely 100% hell no. #reversepsychology ;]
  5. Depending on what happens later, I may pop down to worthing pier [near brighton] Don't anticipate anything on the level of June 2019.....but who knows these days
  6. There was a gust of 82mph recorded earlier around Worthing Pier. Went for a stroll along seafront, very hard to catch breath! Anyone else noticed how dirty their windows are, especially coastal areas? Could it be salty sea spray has been blown in?
  7. My observation as of 12:17GMT in Worthing: It is a little bit breezy. Most bins remain upright but a few have fallen foul of the breeze. Trees remain rooted to the ground Power remains on although there have been a few flickers. I am expecting the strongest breeze between now and 2pm
  8. Seems to happen at least once through the autumn and winter! True.
  9. Expecting gusts around 70-80mph in Worthing tomorrow. Seems like standard winter weather to me, only now these windstorms are named and come with an awful lot of media hype. We had something similar in I think February of 2020, massive hype, and when it arrived it was nowhere near as strong as forecast.
  10. Wind has dropped considerably to almost nothing since the squall line went through around 4pm. Certainly wouldn't think a windstorm had rolled through a few hours ago! I assume the winds will be increasing in the coming hours, to coincide with the rash of showers forecast?
  11. Living a few miles from Brighton on the south coast, I am wondering what the fuss is about..
  12. seems my area on the south coast is going to get away away one!
  13. am out in Brighton, sheltering from the storm under a beach shelter. Seen some decent flashes of lightning
  14. am out in Brighton, sheltering from the storm under a beach shelter. Seen some decent flashes of lightning
  15. can see the channel skies starting to darken. looking forward to the rain and cloud
  16. The AROME model was interested in the idea of storms over Sussex late evening / overnight. Can't see it happening myself!
  17. Heard a few cracks around 1230 this afternoon. That’s been about it.
  18. steady rain again.... we've got off lightly (unfortunately) .... was hoping to call noah for his ark, but it hasn't been required.
  19. Looking at the radar we are just about done here for the foreseeable future. The sun is now out. No thunder to report today, just a bit of heavy rain earlier!
  20. Don't think there will be any storms here in West Sussex coastal areas, it's overcast and the sun hasn't turned up
