  1. It's a big upgrade for us up here - 25C for Monday now, and 'only' 22C on Tuesday. This cooler weather seems to be getting pushed further back.
  2. There's one station in Leeds at 26C right now, and that is usually within 0.5C of the official Church Fenton station - but the wind there is from the NW compared to the SE around here, so I am inclined to believe it is accurate. This is why relying on stations even just a few miles away is not always a good thing as there can be many local variables that influence the temperature.
  3. Seems like a NW wind has kicked in, nudging Belfast Harbour down to 24C. Conversely, Dundee is up to 26C.
  4. Although the warm and dry weather is practical and usable, it is understandable that people are eager for something a little more exciting - after all, this is a weather forum, so don't be too surprised to find people complaining about the lack of visually interesting weather! Indeed, many people could quite easily label the current weather as being monotonous - although it hasn't been around for very long. I'm also under the impression that many people, although currently very happy with the warm, dry weather, want any breakdown in the current spell to be with a bang, and not a whimper, and I'm sure many of us (myself included) would like the odd cooler spell, because days upon days of sunshine, while pleasant, is a little boring.
  5. It's understandable that people don't - especially if there are no official Met stations in the area (of similar elevation) to make accurate comparisons, and personal weather stations are notoriously overexposed, even with Stevenson Screens, so will never match the high standards of Met stations (thank goodness I am close to one!). What about Hawarden - there's a station there, right next to Chester. Not southern Cheshire but close enough and often a hot spot.
  6. This year, yes (largely in June), but that isn't usually the case. That is all I am saying. Enjoy it while it lasts.
  7. Yeah.. as I said... west is usually worst, usually implying that there are exceptions. I don't see any low cloud tonight either - the Met and the Beeb both forecast the highest temperatures in north east England and south eastern Scotland. Sorry to upset you. The only thing that looks iffy tomorrow is the outside risk of a shower.
  8. It was a bad start, but it has turned into a fantastic day here with clear blue skies and warm sunshine. Unsure of the temperature, but it feels warm enough. Again?! More like this once.. west is usually worst for everything.
  9. Cloud is starting to clear here with sunny spells developing.. perhaps today will be salvageable.
  10. Why do you doubt this when GFS has been consistent in showing 29C in Yorkshire on multiple runs and 30C on one or two? It has also been consistent in having Yorkshire as the warmest place in the UK on Tuesday. Considering that both GFS and the Met have undercooked temperatures for the weekend, then I see no reason why 30C could not be breached within the Vale of York. It's hardly unusual for the Vale of York to be the warmest place in the UK or one of the warmest - we reached 29C on the 1st day of October 2011.
  11. Reached 27.9C at Church Fenton today and 28.3C in Leeds. Tomorrow will be cooler, but 30C is possible on Tuesday.
  12. Ncie to see 15C uppers over the UK next week - I get the feeling next weekend will be a lot hotter than this one.
  13. No they don't.. that is why it was reported was 29.7c and not 30C. Even their hourly updates do not get rounded up/down. They will not count it unless it actually reaches 30C.
  14. Today was a much better today than forecast, certainly no overcast weather, some cumulus recently but not enough to block the sun out for more than a minute at most.
  15. May have been reached in 2003, but no official stations recorded such a value so it does not count.
  16. GFS always overdoes the effect wind has on temperatures, especially along the coasts - for example, if there is even the slightest chance of a sea breeze developing, it essentially classes all of Kent and East Anglia as 'coastal' and has them down for 18 - 20C.
  17. Yorkshire's the UK hotspot today with widespread 27 values. Hope we don't get too much cloud tomorrow.
  18. Still some cloud knocking about though - it just doesn't want to leave! Even more is starting to bubble up now looking at Sat24.
