  1. Heavy/torrential rain with thuder last night until around midnight, later eased of to just light rain. Between 6:30am and 10:00am this morning we have had heavy rain, torrential at times, giving flash floods in some areas. Eased of now and it's only spitting, I think that was the highlight of our week over..
  2. Much calmer in the east mids now, thunderstorms have eased and are now only isolated, rain still falling moderately and persistantly, but nothing like the downpours we had around 1-2 hours ago.
  3. Whereabouts are you mate?? The east midlands, in a small town called newark..
  4. The thunder seems to be getting more persistant now, with the rain maybe slightly easing but staying persitant none the less. We currently have around two inches of lying water, but these thunderstorms with torrential rain are expected to last a big part of tonight, so we may be needing the use of sandbags later..
  5. Torrential persistant rain been falling for past hour or so, the time now is 18:30. Thunder occassionally, but mainly flooding is the biggest problem so far this evening.
  6. Moderate rain been falling in the midlands for the past 20 minutes, no thunder currently, but we aren't meant to get any for a while yet.
  7. Light rain has now stopped, winds eased off slightly. However the main front isn't expected to hit the midlands till around 10pm tonight.
  8. Covering of grey cloud currently, light rain just starting to fall and winds picking up. Checked radar and this is only a little segment of showers thats broken off in front of the main build up. Weather forcasts indicate the heaviest rain to hit the midlands around midnight tonight, however the east mids radar shows very heavy (dark red cols on radar) on the 24h radar until after 13:00 tommorow. Anyone further west from the mids have any updates for me?
  9. It's just starting in the east midlands, I am at the north of the midlands so have had to suffer killer temperatures with clear blue skys. Clouds have been rolling in for the last 10-20 minutes, and now finally light rain has started and the odd rumbling of thunder, if this is only the start of things then were in for something good! Darker clouds approaching, if nothing else I am sure we will see heavy rain, and thunder. Not to mention the ready outdoor swimming pool the rain will supply me with - lol!
