    How do these sort of very isolated showers/storms form? I get how a big system forms, but what's the difference?

    Just had some heavy drizzle go though, but not expecting anything stormy at all later.

    That's mainly the reason the US weather body recommends waiting at least 30 minutes before going out after a storm to prevent bolts from the blue. Apparently this is the reason why the England match was delayed for 30 minutes at the least.

    I know. The amount of people that say 'oooohhhhhh did you see the papers, we're going to have tornadoes and a state of emergency will be declared'. It's bloody stupid because a couple of years back they forecast some sort of extreme weather when I think nothing of the sort was forecast and there was panic buying at all the local shops and an elderly lady broke her leg where she was pushed over.

    It seems their forecasts in general have been very off for me recently. Not sure why. They are normally quite good.

    Maybe, but the low blanket of cloud makes it difficult to see. It looks potentially stormy, but nothing concrete.

    I'm holding you personally responsible that as I was trying to sleep last night 'altocumulus castellanus' kept going round in my head keeping me awake.

    Can someone explain to me why we are in the Lvl 2 alert from Estofex, but people are saying theres no chance? Furthermore of we may see something is that likely to be in the evening?

    Some grey cloud building here now. Amazing the amount of cloud types in the sky. AcCas, cirrus, cumulus to name just a few.

    Lots of different cloud types in the sky now and some cumulus building up. Very hot.

    Nope, I used to keep storm diaries and we definitely had many in the 90's.

    I don't think people in the SE got hit as well as people Oop north seem to think. Most of us got some rain and a rumble.
