MetO seem to think heavy and possibly thundery showers tonight???
-
Lovely red sunset tonight.

That's mainly the reason the US weather body recommends waiting at least 30 minutes before going out after a storm to prevent bolts from the blue. Apparently this is the reason why the England match was delayed for 30 minutes at the least.

I know. The amount of people that say 'oooohhhhhh did you see the papers, we're going to have tornadoes and a state of emergency will be declared'.
It's bloody stupid because a couple of years back they forecast some sort of extreme weather when I think nothing of the sort was forecast and there was panic buying at all the local shops and an elderly lady broke her leg where she was pushed over.
-
I'd publicly tweet that to them if I were you!
-
It's got quite gusty here, but lovely blue skies.
-
It seems their forecasts in general have been very off for me recently. Not sure why. They are normally quite good.

That is totally ON topic!Off topic a little But a cell has formed SW of Derby, worth keeping an eye on it

The atmosphere is destabilising over London right now, getting darker to the south. Some Convective rainfall also, not much though. Anyone further south of London getting any Cbs?
Maybe, but the low blanket of cloud makes it difficult to see. It looks potentially stormy, but nothing concrete.

Hmmm, wind has suddenly got up. Sign a front is arriving?

I think us guys in the S/E could be in for a thundery shower or two tonight?
Shhhhhhhhhh! Don't jinx it!

I'm holding you personally responsible that as I was trying to sleep last night 'altocumulus castellanus' kept going round in my head keeping me awake.A cloud spotters dream out there. Cirrostratus undulatus cloud, altocumulus cloud and now some altocumulus castellanus cloud.

Can someone explain to me why we are in the Lvl 2 alert from Estofex, but people are saying theres no chance? Furthermore of we may see something is that likely to be in the evening?
-
Some grey cloud building here now.
Amazing the amount of cloud types in the sky. AcCas, cirrus, cumulus to name just a few.
-
Lots of different cloud types in the sky now and some cumulus building up. Very hot.

Nope, I used to keep storm diaries and we definitely had many in the 90's.That storm in the northern part of the Netherlands is absolutely brutal!! What a beast! France is kicking off quite nicely also, I wonder what has changed in the last 20 years that the storms no longer are prevalent on our islands?I wonder if we really had a load of storms or its just memory compression, where all of our memories get so compressed that they seem to happen in the same time frame where as they may of happened years apart?

I don't think people in the SE got hit as well as people Oop north seem to think. Most of us got some rain and a rumble.
-
Certainly very humid out there. Rminds me of abroad actually.
-
Not what we had then.its thunder every minute which will do me:)
-
If it's what we just had, don't get too excited.kicking off in Essex now
-
I want my money back. A few rumbles, no flashes and a bit of rain.
