  1. Good morning all.

Had a good storm roll past my girl friends yesterday with a very close strike, only few hundred meters away, hitting roof of bp garage.

Today I have day off and her car so anyone fancy making a call on where I should head.

Got to be back in Christchurch, dorset for the school run but that gives me 5 1/2hrs.

If it was you where would you go

I wont blame you if nothing happens :)

    Cheers Dave

  2. good eve all.

Looking at the forecast on netweather for Bmouth it still has large amounts of snow on the cards for late tonight / tomorrow. It has an inch of rainfall when you add the totals up and gives a 95% chance that being snow, that could be 10-14inchs of snow.

Why are non of the tv / online forecasts that most people would hear / watch giving this a mention.

IF this does happen this would be massively disruptive and surely worth a mention even if just a possibility.

Have little to no experiance on winter set ups, I live in sunny Bmouth :)

  3. Good morning all.

Im heading out this eve with the hope of seeing some action out across the channel.

My grirl friend wants to be heading home by midnight as she is working early Thurs. Are we thinking it could kick off b4 then with some french imports or am I going to be gutted when i get home and check the radar to see it light up at 1am.

Will be heading somewhere between Kimmerage bay and portland, any thoughts on how far west from Bournemouth I should go. I promise not to blame anyone If Im in the wrong place ;)

Just a little excited now :o

  4. I still have a number of options i am exploring but one of them involves positioning around Poole/Weymouth for the early hours of Thursday morning.

Hi Dave, I'll be out and about Wed/Thur. Think I'll be heading towards Ringstead bay over looking Weymouth bay and great views over Portland, maybe further West if needs be.

I'm sure you and the new girlfriend can keep ya selves occupied if there are no stormed :-p

I've taken the girlfriend out 3 times so far this year and had nothing! She's not so keen on coming anymore and can't understand why I drive for miles all day to watch heavy rain showers, or we end up driving 3 hours east only to get a call saying there is a massive storm over our village lol.

    Good luck.

Was also thinking about Portland on the Wed night but not sure how far my girlfriend will be up for driving as she has work early on Thurs. And yea your right Hazard, should be able to pass the time, note to self, dont forget the scabble ;)

Been trying to rope mates in for a chase on Thurs but no joy so far. Im car less at mo. so If anyone fancies some company and some fuel money ;)

  5. hoping to see something out in the channel Wed night.

Heading out to the ridge near kimmerage bay, Dorset which has amazing views out over the channel.

Roped the new girl friend into driving me out there from Bournemouth. She likes a storm but never thought of chasing. Just hope we see something because there is nothing like sitting in a car park for 6hrs and seeing bugger all to put a noob of chasing.

Bang goes my chances of another lift if that happens.

Anyone else chasing Wed/Thurs in the Dorset/Hamp. area

  6. Just got back from the shops on Boscombe high street, Bournemouth and witnessed what Im convinced was a tornado or gustnado as the squall line passed over. Rain came lashing down and an area of strong rotation passed across the high street sending The market stalls, chairs, signs flying through the air. Also sent a few kids running and screaming who had just been playing around in the rain. 20m up the high street and all the stalls etc are un touched

  7. Just been out to my local shops and Noticed a very low very black line heading west to East.

It passed over head with torrential rain and what was either a tornado or gustnado crossing the high street about 30m in frount of me. Could see very fast rotation and it sent some of the market stall, chairs, signs etc flying through the air. 20m up from this the market stalls are completly untouched.

Just before it hit a few kids were running around in the heavy rain as kids do, then they all ran screaming away. No one hurt that I could see.

  8. Cheers for the report, shame it didn't look like producing in the flesh, so to speak, certainly looked interesting on radar as Paul posted

Down in Bmouth and was some fairly strong looking convection, enough to get me excited anyway.

Looks like there is some fairly strong cells crossing the channel now and seem to be heading towards Bmouth. Prob hit just as I head to work in 1/2 hr, on my pushbike :( along the coast road :)

  9. Definitely. Been there myself with the hill at 430ft overlooking Portsmouth harbor and the Southampton inlet, if you set off now you should get to the visitor car park in time at the top. Most likely with a couple of other photographers there too.

hitting the road in a minute with my wife, gamon & mustard sandwichs and coffee read to go. Fingers crossed this 1 isnt a bust like my other uk chases
