  1. A chilly and frosty start this morning, getting down to 0.4°C - that paved way for a sunny start, some cloud bubbled up mid-morning, and now a large area of black cloud is moving down from the North. Windy too, gusting to 20mph. Temp: 9.2°C - Hum: 76% - Dew: 5.2°C - Windchill 7°C - Bar: 1007.69hPa - Wind: NW ~ NE @ 10mph.
  2. I ended up with 6mm falling today, that's 6mm more than I expected. Temp falling quite quickly again. It is forecast to get down to 2°C - that was what was forecast the other morning, and it got down to -0.7 so I'm wondering if ice could be a hazard? Yesterday's timelapse: http://www.warehamwx.co.uk/cumulus/timelapse.htm
  3. I haven't seen any TV forecasts for a few days, but the BBC and MetO website didn't have any rain down for here. Pretty grim out there! Temp: 9.3°C - Hum: 97% - Dew: 8.8°C - Rain: 3.6mm - Bar: 1009.11hPa - Wind: Light / Variable @ 1mph.
  4. Lots of cake to eat between now and then, but certainly far more interest as we head further in to November.
  5. A noticeable windchill developing in to the second half of the weekend, and then in to the start of next week - as wind speed increases.
  6. Down to -0.7°C here, this morning. First sub-zero reading since April 28th. It was all white and frosty this morning. Temp: 8.1°C - Hum: 89% - Dew: 6.4°C - Bar: 1021.81hPa - Wind: ENE @ 1mph.
  7. Excellent work on the posting of updates, and the scoring work.
  8. Temperature taking a nice tumble after today's high of 12.7°C - Currently at 7.4°C and need to go below 2.4°C
  9. A low of 3.8°C here this morning. It was blue skies from the word go, a few bits & pieces of cloud bubbled up thereafter. Temp: 11.4°C - Hum: 64% - Dew: 4.9°C - Bar: 1025.30hPa - Wind: NNW ~ NNE @ 8mph.
  10. It's a good video that, makes a change to see the forecasters talking a bit more in-depth about it. With the idea of questions being sent in, I thought .. yeah.. this should be good! And then someone had to do it, didn't they? "Will it snow in Manchester?"
  11. Foggy again this morning, lifted to leave blue skies, but now it's overcast and feeling chilly. Temp: 11.5°C - Hum: 91% - Dew: 10.1°C - Bar: 1023.71hPa - Wind: N ~ NNE @ 6mph.
  12. October was a fairly quiet month, around average sunshine hours and below average rainfall. There were quite a few windy days, with the wind dominating from the the ENE. 13. I managed to get up to 18.4°C this afternoon, and very nice it was too!
  14. It's warm out there today! Fog lifted to leave lovely blue skies. Temp: 17.1°C - Hum: 79% - Dew: 13.4°C - Bar: 1026.18hPa - Wind: ENE ~ E @ 6mph.
  15. hi vizzy - I replied here as to not clog the CET thread up I used this: http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/weather/climate/gbyxgmvts Either pick a station that is close to you, or use a regional average. I went with the regional average to pit my stats against. Bournemouth and Swanage are both 9 miles from me, but Swanage tends to be warmer than here during Winter months, and cooler in the Summer, but Bournemouth tends to get higher temps in Summer and lower temps in Winter, so that's the reason why I went with a region instead. Hope that helps?!
  16. I hope it stays on 11°C Meanwhile, my October average has crept up to 11.1°C - the warmer nights over the past few days have helped (or hindered)
  17. A bit brighter today, and even a little bit of sunshine from time to time. Feeling quite warm though, wind has increased as well. Temp: 15.7°C - Hum: 85% - Dew: 13°C - Bar: 1028.99hPa - Wind: E ~ ESE @ 8mph.
  18. I don't suffer from SAD, but I do find this weather to be rather horrid! No dampness here, just overcast. Temp: 14°C - Hum: 90% - Dew: 12.4°C - Bar: 1034.61hPa - Wind: ENE @ 3mph.
  19. I should have said theta-e in my post, but it was late and I had square eyes. However, I agree with your comment, but the chart in question isn't the 850 hPa temps, it's the potential equivalent temperature. A good example at 99hrs.. To the untrained eye, the second chart looks a glorious sight. It is a good chart to use at short range if snow is in the forecast, as it can be one of many tools to help get an idea of what the precipitation falling, might be at different elevations.
  20. Can I ask why you're posting theta-w charts quite often? While useful at short range, it is misrepresenting what may be going on at the surface- making those charts look better than they are to the less knowledgeable, especially with all the colours.
  21. Mostly cloudy but the odd bright spell does appear at times - a bit depressing to be honest. Temp: 14.8°C - Hum: 79% - Dew: 11.2°C - Bar: 1035.69hPa - Wind: W @ 4mph. A new pressure record on my station today, although it has only been going for 239 days- 1035.90hPa.
  22. I know it is a chart for today. You quoted Ian saying: Met Office shows south-westerly winds for the next few days And then you start posting the MetO's text forecast beyond a few days. If you referring to another of his posts, then please quote the correct one. Seriously, people need to read posts more carefully. How is: There is a hint of something drier with some frost next week but southerlies returning later. referring to the MetO's longer range text forecast? That's his own interpretation- I certainly didn't read it as though it was from the MetO's website. Sheesh!
  23. But Ian didn't mention anything about any text forecasts.. If you just look at the simple forecasts with graphical icons, it shows winds to the WSW for a few days. If anything, people are misreading Ian's post.
