I can't say whether this is genuine or not, but it's doing the rounds on Twitter.
Sleaford in Lincolnshire.

I'm a bit gutted i didn't see any lightning/rain etc ..
But after seeing those reports of hail, i'm glad i didn't get that here. I have a fantastic garden and a pond, it would have beaten all my plants and pond lilys to pieces, like it did in the 80's. Quite a saddening experience to see that happen.

BACK UP .. BACK UP!!
-
Where was that?
I don't know, they didn't give a description on Twitter. My guess is somewhere in Leicestershire. I've never seen so many large hail pictures appear from this country in my life!
A BBC journalist .. Rozina Sini took the pic.

The Cold Front was timed to pass through Gloucestershire about noon so it must have passed by now surely.
All forecasts pointing a warm, dry afternoon/evening in the SW apart from an isolated shower. Winds freshening overnight from the SW.
It's crossing Cornwall/Devon now.
-
Temperatures went from 22c to 17c here within a very short space of time, it's gone cloudy and feels quite cool now.
-
-
It's becoming fresher down here, with a nice breeze.

Twitter report; major damage to industrial buildings being reported in nw leics coalville and loughborough by suspected tornado and flooding.

Loughborough Uni..

Where is the cold front currently.. Anyone?

Crap here .. again.

I don't want replies of 'keep the faith' or anything, but i just don't see it happening in the far south. I think the action will be north of an imaginary line from around Cheshire to Cambridgeshire. The MO wouldn't leave it this long, i think the beeb and MO have called this one right.

Large raindrops have started falling here, didn't expect that.

I was going to give a more in depth explanation of the physics etc but I didn't want to be accused of going off topic!
Never heard of it being on MW. I have two modern radios and MW doesn't exist, it's just AM and FM, and in the past, AM was what i used to pick up the sferics.
Back on topic, local forecasts haven't mentioned a single thing about anything thundery. Either there's going to be a big bust, or it's going to be down to the wire.
-
Off to the pub it is then.
When using your radio as a lightning detector am I right in thinking you have it on LW freq.
And how high do I need the volume as I and my girl friend will be sleeping in the room and need to turn down to a low crack / hiss.
Will It wake me on a low volume??
lol
I don't know about volume, but i think you need to set it to an AM channel.
I bought myself a handheld detector a few years back, handy bit of kit! It has a visual display as well as an audible setting.
-
So sack this eve off and go to the pub then?
I probably would, i'm gonna do the pub thing myself.
-
Can someone please make a call for me do I.
A) pack the girl friends car (her first chase) and head to purbecks on south coast this eve and hope to see imports, have to be heading home at midnight tho
or
B)go to the pub and get up early, will have no car and stuck in Bournemouth.
What would you do????
I can't see classic storms here, but elevated lightning, yes.
If you have to be back by midnight, it'll be too early to see anything i would have thought.
Need to get up on creech hill carpark, on top of the Purbeck hills. Best viewpoint of anywhere.

The models have a 'mare during plume set-ups, so lots of variations on models runs, at this point i wouldn't worry too much if they're not showing what you want. It's likely to go down to last runs to get a decent idea, it could turn out to be a classic.

I like the estofex forecast .. level 1 MCS.

From the latest Hirlam suite i am still going for areas to the SW in the early hours of Thursday for the best possibilities. Counties such as Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, Dorset and up into S Wales and the SW Midlands. Certainly not the only areas at risk though, but this area looks to have the best overlap of helicity, DLS, parcel layer depth and MLCAPE.
I am only an amateur so please correct me if i am seeing this wrong - (sooner rather than later so i haven't already booked my hotel room on the south coast of Devon )
Well i'm in a great spot for views here, so i will report anything asap when i'm about. I don't have to get up work for Thurs/Fri - so it's the pub for me, and then whatever else heppens after that.

Disastrous forecasting by BBC national and local forecasts again.
Today was supposed to be grey, damp and drizzly. Instead, we went from warm sunshine and temps around 20c to a torrential downpour.
-
Thundery downpour here right now.

I probably had the country's most boring weather today. But it was nice reading all your reports, and it was nice to share some images i managed to find. Well done if you got a nice storm!
