Absolutely sod all: almost flat skies, bone dry ground and not a single blade of green grass. It's just like last year was -- storm warning after storm warning, and bugger all in the way of rain!
Never mind "there's a thunderstorm coming", I just want to see "one drop of rain on my window pane".
The East is just total kack these days.

Got some seriously epic overcast skies here, and I mean EPIC!!!!
At one point the half dozen spots of rain were so heavy they almost hit the ground,

Well, all that completely missed me last night. Looked like I was in for a direct hit at one point before it all suddenly evaporated.
Charts 2 days ago were looking promising for here for Monday as well, and now there seems to be very little on the cards at all - it's all south of here. In fact, Norwich is *just* outside the SLGT zone for the third day in a row - it actually curves to avoid Norwich today
Been a very disappointing summer so far for storms. Had one or 2 very small storms very early on, at the end of spring. That's usually a bad sign, and it has proven to be. Had a small lightshow at the end of that 37°C heatwave, but nothing else of note.
I really think it's time we had a pub gathering to drown our sorrows!

who would of thought in September we get treated to a country wide squall line?? Even the areas not directly under it are still seeing distant light shows...turned into a very good night.
Country wide?
Nope, nothing, not even distant flashes which normally wake me up.

I see the east had precisely zero yet again.
God, it's pathetic.

Were there storms last night or something?
Ah, apparently so. Apart from the east of course.

In terms of average temps it was definitely one of the best, but then I'm a fan of hot weather (although I draw the line at 35C+) and I love the Mediterranean type evenings when temps don't fall much below 22C. That said, the prolonged dry spell was an issue and continues to be, with only 10mm recorded in August. Coming on the back of a dry winter and spring we can only hope for above average rainfall over the next few months.
It never felt particularly humid here as we generally get a strong onshore breeze most of the time, only a few days when the wind was more tempered and from the SW or W. Disappointingly the thundery activity in the eastern region continues to decline year on year.

Quite a chilly day in comparison to recent weeks but perfect for a day's mantrailing on buildings, urban and mixed settings up at West Raynham. I'm knackered and so is my dog! Brilliant day though, love watching the dogs smash the new environment, you really have to have faith in their abilities especially in the dark!

Or in my case -- non-existent! Not that this is the first time, this year, that being slap, bang in the 'zone of greatest impact' has come to nothing!
We need to start a club for the Seriously Underwhelmed....

No rain in Stowmarket when I left at 6am but had to bail out off A14 at Bury due to the flooded dual carriageway near the Sugar Factory. Bury was chaos near the station, drains overflowing and flooded roads. Back to Stow and dry although there are now a couple of showers not thing like the intensity of that rain in Bury though.
A good friend of mine in B St E said the BBC reported 63mm rain in Bury in 2hrs!

Half a dozen rumbles of thunder and 5mm rain.
Underwhelming.

That was all very underwhelming, hardly disturbed my sleep.
Half a dozen rumbles of thunder and 5mm of rain.

Have been down end of garden for half an hour filming both storms either side of me. The CC lightening is spectacular from both cells! The darkness, silence and nothingness was interrupted with the most vivid CC lightening. Amazing!!
It's certainly very, er, flashy even if it's now 50 miles away.
Oh well, second time I've "seen" lightning this year...

Woken up, and seeing loads of flashes to the East. I fear I’ve missed the chance to Intercept it however! Lovely distant viewing still. More to come by the look of it further S!!
Me too, woken up by my strike alert and for what, some distant cloud top flashes in the N Sea. Back to bed.

Well, the Met doesn't have anything lined up for my area until 7am, so I don't think I'll be staying up......

the storms all have been very naughty. having said that the clouds look rainy, like.
I'll have to try a bit of luring, can't expect a storm to modify its behaviour haha. Nothing like positive reinforcement though.....

A blob of light rain seems to be heading this way, so that's sort of good.
