  1. Sounds and looks really good Tom. I have a spare tent if anyone needs to borrow one since i'll be using my fishing bivvy and bed chair Oh no after all that just looked in my diary and I have a gig that night in Doncaster. Wonder if I could just drive up after?
  2. C'mon guys! Want to know what i'm letting myself into before I see you all out in the States! 23/24th July all good for me!
  3. Hi Jo, thankfully my head is very supportive and was actually very interersted in the holiday. He said he would allow it as long as I bring back pictures and have arranged with Geography department to team teach a couple of lessons when they do their unit on severe weather. Got my camera - brought a Nixon D3100 with all the extras (8g SD card, laptop, insurance etc) and have a decent laptop already so just need the flight and insurance. I do have a quote from Go Walkabout travel insurance so may go with them. Did it cost £430 for a return flight or was that one way?
  4. I'm a teacher too! The head has given me 2/3 days off either side of 1 week holiday so I can go! Thank you Paul. Any idea of prices for flights. Nice gent on the phone at Netweather said get them in the sale after Christmas as that is when they are most cheapest?
  5. just to clarify, for tour 4 would it be best to get a BA093 flight out on the 30th may?
  6. Agree there Sprites. Cloudscapes are lovely today. Seen one earlier that looked like an atom bomb had gone off! Wish I had my camera with me. If it does happen think we would possibly only get a rumble of thunder.
  7. Lovely convective clouds out there today. Very photogenic. I'm banking on some rain for my area later. No storms though me thinks.
  8. Sorry I think that's the end of our Spanish plume. I had exactly the same problem as you (stuck at work grrrrrr) Until the next heat wave...adios!
  9. Oh no, I feel for you! Cambridge had it bad today! When I was young (up until about 10 years old) I absolutely hated thunderstorms. I used to cry, shake and get under the covers of my bed and block my ears. I remember once when I was on holiday in Spain with my parents there was a huge thunderstorm with localised flooding and I absolutely hated it. The worst thing was that my parents and brother were laughing it off. Some way to comfort a 7 year old child eh?! Anyway, I found that facing your fears really helps. I do a lot of fishing and got caught out in a lightning storm once when I was about 15. As I had no car (was too young to drive) I just had to sit it out in the open. Rods came out of the water and I just sat in the open getting absolutely drenched. For some unexpainable reason this got me very interested in severe weather and my fear went after that day. Now just booked a trip out to the States on Netweathers Storm Chase 2012 tour and chase around my area whenever there is a possibility. Still get the jitters sometimes with lightning! Hope you find a way, whatever way it may be to find a cure
  10. Still in!!!! Even though we gotr a pasting today I did not see any of it as was stuck in work!
  11. I think you really are clutching at straws now! Would be exciting if it did develop. As I said earlier those storms that hit the East earlier (all of which I missed because of work grrrrr) came from nothing in the channel. They just grew and Grew and GREW!!!!
  12. Anymore news on the barbie??? Location and date?
  13. Still plenty of Summer left! Tbh I really want a nice nighttime storm so not too bothered as the rain and low cloud did not make for a spectular lights display
  14. If you look back on the radar you can see how it really built from nothing in the channel. Then BOOM!!!!
  15. Any idea if we will get anything later? Just got home from work and missed it all. Could hear the rumbles at work but meetings had to be done after work
  16. What are the chances of this continuing for the East into the evening?
  17. T-storm in Newmarket. Seems these line of cells are producing. Stuck at work till 4:30 grrrrrrrrr... Hope we get some further action tonight
  18. Couple of hours shut eye now. Gonna be tricky in this heat. Will see if anything has developed in a couple of hours. G'night guys n gals
  19. good good, a positive outlook on the 'bust' situation. Personally I feel my area is very unlikely to see or hear anything tonight but I can only hope. Don't know how i'm going to sleep tonight. It is soooooo hot!!!
  20. See this post earlier (thanks to pinball wizard for pointing this out) http://forum.netweather.tv/topic/70096-el-gordo-spanish-plume-thunderstorm-discussion-4/page__view__findpost__p__2097675 Could still be seeing some imports late night.
  21. Still a chance guys! Initiation was always said to be late evening! Still a chance for Eastern regions imo
  22. hoping the amount of fag breaks i've took tonight might just initiate convection in my area
