  1. Its still a long way off yet so I am reserving judgement dont get excited until the day, I found that out the hard way when looking for thunderstorms in the summer. This way off its always a what if. But there does not look like much in percipitation around on those days anyway. It all seems to be locked into the warm segment.
  2. Jack how do you mean it looks marginal, Can you be a bit more specific on what looks marginal
  3. By Sounds of it monday night into tuesday and wednesday where its forecast for much of the day and night It is my understanding then high preassure is comming which means much less in the way of snow, and cleear blue skies for the most of the cold spell
  4. LMAO , I only ever trust net-weather and even then sometimes they get it wrong but BBC are useless. Nobody can predict the violent nature of mother nature but net-weather get it right most times
  5. Jack, is the stuff out to the southwest now just comming into view on radar whats comming our way on monday, tuesday and wednesday
  6. Yes but wind direction wont be the same as it is tonight. I was under the impression the low over midlands will move and suck colder air in which will colide with a front comming from adlantic (I am sure thats whats going to happen, I think lol) Wind right now is comming off the sea, which means its milder. Tommorow the wind turns and comes from inland which makes it much colder if that makes scense.. Put it this way, if we did nto have the adlantic warming effect, it be very very low temps in the winter, and much warmer ones in the summer. Without it the CET of Uk would be in the negative figures, which is why if the NAD stopped we really would be in a mess. The blocking patterns we get during these periods is when the warm air from the NAD (north adlantic drift) gets blocked or pushed further south which allows our true azimith north temps to come through. Only reason why Russia is so dam cold is becuse its not warmed by the adlantic.
  7. Wind has changed direction thats why, its comming from the west so its warmer
  8. Yea that died real fast, I guess there is nothing to keep it fueled preasure is still pretty high here sucking life out of it
  9. Winds will turn I think its because of wind comming from the sea, westerly wind always thaws snow chances I soon see when it hits me if it does, looks like im just about to hit the edge of it in next 10 mins. I report if its rain or not. Just checked actually its to far north for me, stuff out over carmarthenshire comming from irish sea isnt tho
  10. Dont be so quick to give up, its not fizzling out at all, and there is plenty out to the irish sea thats got to come inland yet. Glanamman is just on the edge where there is plenty behind it looking at the radar. Remember the front is pushing south and its not fully here yet.
  11. I love reading these forums, people seem to think if temps are close to zero or below snow is due. Thats not always the case. Only once in my lifetime have I witnessed freezing rain, its liquid until it hits something solid and immediatly frezzes. Now thats nasty stuff. It turned my windscreen into thick ice in secounds, and its ice everywhere. So remember folks zero temps dont gurantee snow.
  12. Because I am "From" there and dont live there anymore
  13. Looking at the 850HPA those are almost going east only slightly SE so us in south wales wont get that band. We may get something that comes off the irish sea tho, but it seems to warm to snow here as its nearly 6oC
  14. I dont trust a word they say. Its all exciting stuff but next week is the big week. I think you find as that band moves south it will turn to rain especially around the coastal areas. In fact id be very supprissed if they even make it down this far.
  15. Im North of Port Talbot and its blue skies all round and everything has thawed, but I am looking forwrad to Tuesday/Wednesday
  16. for all you weather lovers, I usually come on this forum during storm season in the spring as lightning photography is my hobby but we all love the white stuff. If you can spare £3.50 the V radar is defo worth it, and if you look at 850 HPA wind vector the rainfall or snowfall usually follows the line. Wind is due south almost at the moment, but that will swing more SW later on with a convergrnce zone forming nicely so you never know people. Tuesday is looking VERY nice at the moment for some heavy snowfall for us so keep fingers crossed
  17. I have the 5 min radar and one in bristol chanel is almost here and its fragmenting and weakining cannot see any lighhtning from it yet. SO I am giving it 10 more mins
  18. I think the ones in the bristol channel are starting to die down now as the front has moved more in land. ANyone agree or is it still worth another drive to the front for more pics
  19. Yep Port Talbot works. I was on Sandfields sea front. I am watching the next one moving in to see if its worth another quick drive down for more shots [ quote name=shaunwales' date='26 Jun 2009, 12:47 AM' post='1549783] Those are some great pictures! What's the big lights on the left of some pics? Port Talbot Works? I can't believe some people are just sitting out in this (as seen in one of you pics)
  20. I added some pics on previous page now of one just passed wales
  21. Some pics of the storms that just passed me in south wales 1 strike being a little to close for comfort.
  22. -4 LI and some ncie cape forcast for my area of south wales on Monday (tommorow now) Do you people think this is going to stand or is it likely to nose dive later?>
  23. Drop me a note on msn bud, seem to have lost you
  24. For your information looks like I was to far south and west. Blue skies here again not a cloud in the sky.
