  1. 11:00AM it's raining and 10.°C here in the peak district. Another day with the heating on.
  2. I'm glad I don't build up my expectation of these so called heatwaves like some others do. One day at 22°C forecast here (sunday), hardly impressive, then back to normal again. Normal being what this June has actually been, in fact. 90% of Junes in the last 20 years were well warmer than average.
  3. Another appalling day, continuous rain or showers, and a high of 15.3°C
  4. Very dull, showery wet and dampy October-like day, 12.9°C and 91% humidity at the moment.
  5. Max of 17.2 °C in Ferbyshire DAMN You know I always wondered how to get a line through text but never knew that the first time I did it would be by accident.!!!! Max of 17.3°C in the Peaks today, low was 12°C last night. It was a fairly humid day with much cloud, the odd shower and some sunny spells.
  6. Metoffice, NetWeather, now Exacta Weather, third in line to be shot down in flames.
  7. Well, it managed to reach a "scorching" 18.2°C in the peak district today, the highest since 14th. No rain, mostly cloudy skies.
  8. Temperature's only been about a degree below average and rainfall has not been that high. Continental Europe, being Continental, will always get "proper heat" compared to a maritime Island nation like us.
  9. At my location April's sunshine was 187 hours. E&W average was somewhat over 200 hours.
  10. Wind NW at 4mph Temp: 13.6°C RH: 83% Pressure 1011.3hpa, rising Dewpoint: 11°C Condition: Overcast
  11. I am but my area usually sees far below the England average of sunshine anyway. In May we had only 135 hours of sunshine and in June so far we have had about 110. So below average on both counts. But that is lower than what the England & Wales average is.
  12. Where I live now (peak district) it has been very cold. Average high of just 16 degrees C so far. Because I used to live in SE England, I have never experienced a summer month as cold as this. In London/Berkshire most Octobers were warmer than these figures for June 2011 in the peak district.
  13. No thunderstorms here. It is a matter of where you live. Thunderstorms are never severe or organised in the UK (maybe rarely) and tend to be very isolated and short lived. So whoever has had them has been lucky. June 2007 was actually superior in my opinion to this June, as there were many thunderstorms and it was actually warmer than average with a decent first two weeks.
  14. This has been a very strange year here for weather. At least where I live it has been a direct analogue of 2007, except for january. February, very mild. March, very mild. April, warmest on record (again). May, cooler than April and very unsettled (in the NW) June, warm spell at beginning (as did 2007 if you remember) then incessant low pressure and cold ever since, and threatening to be even colder than April (!?) Not making me feel good for July really.
  15. It is a grim and cold wet day in the peaks. Info for 14:05 Wind SW @ 2mph 13.0°C, 82%RH 999.4hpa, rising 4.8mm so far today Sky condition overcast
  16. No Ice Age is on the way. The UK had a cool year in 2008 and a cold year in 2010 but these are two measly anomalies out of many many recent years much milder than average, and the UK is the UK, NOT the whole world. 2010 was the warmest year on record, globally. Do you not think that if the sun was weakening and solar properties were driving some kind of ice age, then the whole world would be feeling the cooling effects and not just the UK? In actual fact the world is continuing to boil over at its frightning rate as ever.
  17. I'm guessing you live in the NE part of the Derbys peak district not far from the Yorkshire border. Where I live is near the cheshire border. The differences in temperature can be quite large over a small area in the Peaks due to the topographical effects. We did barely even reach 20°C on April 23rd because of an advancing cold front which arrived that day and caused a sudden temperature drop and cloud over the western peaks. So our April max of 21.8°C was on the 22nd.
  18. Most LRF's a just little more than guesswork unfortunately. Unlike some, I do believe they should be attempted, but currently, as of 2011 they are not of any real use enough to be believed or accepted as anything more than an experimental thing. Before writing things like this, don't forget, your comment here is in fact directly applicable to netweather.tv, if we take the summer LRF. Not only this summer, but I can remember (as a forum lurker) reading a "G.P special" LRF for summer of 2006 - his prediction appeared to be that that summer would be predominately cooler and wetter, with no real heat. And we had the hottest July on record. So becareful before dissing other private forecasters.
  19. It is rather foolish to expect a summer here in the Derbyshire Peak District, unless you consider anything over 15°C summer of course. Moreso than that, it is the lack of sun and numerous drizzly days that make it distinctly un-summery round these parts.
  20. In the Derbyshire Peak District: We reached 22.6°C on 03/06. This is the highest so far this year. In April, we had a max of 21.8°C.
  21. Looking like even my prediction will be too high, going by the latest model outputs. More chilly stuff on the way.
  22. I must be really strange, sad or both but I have spent time working out average thunderstorm days over the last 30 years for various UK locations, and you get an idea of the trend for several major locations. . For Waddington, Lincolnshire: 1980 - 1989 147 thunderstorm days, 14.7 per annum 1990 - 1999 150 thunderstorm days, 15 per annum 2000 - 20009 151 thunderstorm days, 15.1 per annum For London Heathrow: 1980 - 1989 168 thunderstorm days, 16.8 per annum 1990 - 1999 132 thunderstorm days, 13.2 per annum 2000 - 2009 144 thunderstorm days, 14.4 per annum For Newcastle: 1980 - 1989 96 thunderstorm days, 9.6 per annum 1990 - 1999 69 thunderstorm days, 6.9 per annum 2000 - 2009 87 thunderstorm days, 8.7 per annum For Manchester Airport: 1980 - 1989 125 thunderstorm days, 12.5 per annum 1990 - 1999 168 thunderstorm days, 16.8 per annum 2000 - 2009 136 thunderstorm days, 13.6 per annum For Manston, Kent: 1980 - 1989 178 thunderstorm days, 17.8 per annum 1990 - 1999 146 thunderstorm days, 14.6 per annum 2000 - 2009 85 thunderstorm days, 8.5 per annum For Marham, Norfolk: 1980 - 1989 194 thunderstorm days, 19.4 per annum 1990 - 1999 125 thunderstorm days, 12.5 per annum 2000 - 2009 134 thunderstorm days, 13.4 per annum For East Midlands Airport: 1982 - 1989 78 thunderstorm days, 9.8 per annum 1990 - 1999 76 thunderstorm days, 7.6 per annum 2000 - 2009 129 thunderstorm days, 12.9 per annum For Exeter, Devon: 1980 - 1989 91 thunderstorm days, 9.1 per annum 1990 - 1999 49 thunderstorm days, 4.9 per annum 2000 - 2009 47 thunderstorm days, 4.7 per annum For Gatwick Airport: 1980 - 1989 170 thunderstorm days, 17.0 per annum 1990 - 1999 138 thunderstorm days, 13.8 per annum 2000 - 2009 116 thunderstorm days, 11.6 per annum So make what you will of it.
  23. No thunderstorms in Derbyshire Peak District this year. Saw distant lightning on May 6th. Heard three rumbles, saw two flashes (inc. a good CG) on May 9th. Heard two distant rumbles on June 8th. Otherwise bugger all. Funnily enough, it's actually doing better than least year even with five rumbles. This place stinks for storms. We get about 5 thunder days per year.
  24. 25.6mm (1 inch) of rain so far here, for June that is.
  25. THE DAILY REVIEW OF THE WEATHER IN THE DERBYSHIRE PEAK DISTRICT Max temp: 14.8°C Min temp: 7.9°C 3.2mm of rain in a heavy shower at 18:30. 4.6 hours of sunshine. A cool and October like day.
