  1. A period of warmth at about 21C about luncgtime in Bridgwater. dark clouds to the south or west constantly threatening rain but none materialised. Evening cool and only about 16C at 6.00 pm. Now feeling quite cool inland. We seem to have missed this 'heatwave' in these parts. Depressed by local forecast that has just been updated to showers and no sun tomorrow and max of 16. Still - they said it would be rubbish last weekend but it wasn't.
  2. Rain a.m. sometimes heavy (causing at least two crashes locally on wet roads), followed by haevu clouds with some breaks but little sun, ofetn threatening rain but not where I was. Temperature only about two degrees under yesterday at 19C so despite heat wave in east it doesn't feel much cooler here.
  3. Getting cool and cloudy for the weekend then warming up again during next week then looks like doing the same again! NOOOOO!!!!!!!! I WANT A WARM WEEKEND!!!!
  4. Just up the road from Ilchester here - front certainly did not appear allowing a fine sunny day throughout and not much cloud in comparison to past days. Stuck in office until late (sigh)...
  5. Not hot as forecast - but pleasant at about 21C and sun most of the day. Temperature has not dropped much during evening leaving us with a pleasant evening and sun in my garden to sit in after work!!!!
  6. Two grumbles - 1) Thunderstorms now unlikely here. 2) Forecasts saying a dip to cooler temperatures, and then giving temperatures no lower than we've experienced in the west for months!
  7. Good shower of rain early morning (best time for rain in my book) Warm but grey all day (Ok for working!) 23C. Sun finally appeared at 7.00 pm
  8. Best Sunday here since the first Sunday of the month, and best weekend in total - despite low expectations of forecasters we have been warmer and sunnier than expected; cloud much more broken today with little lower level cumulous giving two relatively pleasant days on the trot. Seems rather a lottery at the moment apart from those poor people in Welsh border area.
  9. My last posting was the kiss of death as thick layer of cloud has arrived in from the north blotting out sun completely.
  10. More sultry than roasting here - sun has come through and it is a pleasant afternoon about 22C with thin cloud over sun and a few bluer bits. No wind to speak of. Good!
  11. Woke up to drizzle at 8.30 a.m. which continued for about half an hour. Now dry with featureless cloud layer which shows sign of thinning at times so some brightness. At least the local forecast is correct so far unlike yesterday where I was driving though cool drizzle while being told it was warm and sunny!!!!!
  12. Grey all day here. Bridgwater had rain at 6.00 pm which was quite heavy at times but on driving back to Yeovilton area there had been no rain since early morning.
  13. Reputable weather sites all now telling different stories for the weekend. Who do I believe?????
  14. Fine summers day with sunny evening until at least 8.00 pm - we could see the threatening cumulo-nimbus in the distance allowing fine cloud-scape, but late cloud has been thin stratus. More days like this please and for the rest of the country.
  15. Models for weekend now uniformly downgrading from warm and sunny to relatively nice Saturday then cool, cloudy and showery Sunday due to an occluded front coming in from the west.
  16. Earlier cloud than yesterday but felt warmer for longer too. Again stuck in office during best of the sun - thinner stratus tonight than last night and feeling muggier. We seemed to have had more sun than north (Bristol) or south (Wellington) so there must have been an arm of blue around the Bridgwter area.
  17. Beautiful sunny and warm day mid-Somerset for the whole day - managed to catch ten minutes outside the office when it was about 22C. Warmth continued on way home where edge of the sheet of stratus was. Sat down in garden to catch some rays at 6.15 and sun went in at that point and hasn't shone since. Stratus now thinning.
  18. If you transpose yesterdays and todays forecasts then they were right! Much better today than yesterday with stratocumuous minimal until 4.00 pm. Burnham-on-Sea looked lovely - which is rare. Sky virtually covered for a couple of hours with a few spots of rain even at 6.00 pm but broken again now and rather pleasant.
  19. I'd echo much of that - but don't think this summer has been as awful as 2008 or 2009. 2010 was much better in this area. It's amazing how different one county was from another - and Wiltshire was often on the edge of the bad weather which dogged the SW, particularly in 2009 when the SE had the 'BBQ summer' no-one else got. It's still bad though and I'm getting frustrated - a couple of days in the 20's with sunshine would be great let alone 30's! I had a good June - but I was in Catalonia for much of it!! Sunshine has appeared but there has only been one day this month (the first Sunday) where we had the warmth and sun together - it's been sunny and cold or warmer and cloudy and/or wet otherwise. Not my idea of a decent summer.
  20. Sun did get through for a few minutes but cloud has reasserted itself here. Very breezy - and we even had a short shower mid-morning which was not forecasted anywhere! I guess I have to accept yesterday as the good day and hope that the high pressure reasserts itself properly for next weekend.
  21. Uniformly grey and overcast here, which was not what was forecast yesterday, but the swallows are flying high which is a portent of good weather, supposedly. and it is mild morning at about 17c.. I have just checked the met office site and decided not to go to the beach in Dorset for a nice sunny warm day as they have just changed the forecast to cloud and 18c. It's going to be warmer and sunnier where I live (nr Yeovilton) so I guess that saves some petrol anyway. It looks like that front is advancing down a bit faster than originally thought as rain is forecast mid to late evening.
  22. Very sunny start light cumulous has appeared since about 10.00 - high stratus dimming the sun but breaks are appearing and sun is getting through at times. Decent weather for my local village fete and certainly the best Saturday weather here for many weekends!
  23. Almost complete opposite of yesterday. As noted by others we got the long periods of clouds and showers and zero sun until about 4.30 when cluds broke and sun finally appeared. Temperatures rose a degree or so to 16C on drive home inland and a pleasant evening with enough sun to keep air on cusp of comfortable allowed relatively comfortable sitting-out-in-garden weather (with jumper after 7.00 pm mind). Currently a fine sunset - and yes it is red so fingers crossed!
  24. Pleasant day in Bridgwater with sunshine from the start and a warm afternoon at 21C!. Heavy clouds appeared to east late afternoon which I drove into in my 20 mile drive home inland. Drove into heavy rain with temperature drop from 19C to 13C. Has been grey, overcast and drizzly since.
  25. As for most of us a dull day with low cloud and some rain, temporarily brighter with even a few minutes of sunshine in B'water lunchtime. Late sun. Slightly warmer than Monday by a degree or so.
