  1. So that'll be seven bad summers of rain and floods. If this means we have pestilence for the next seven years at least we might get some decent weather.
  2. Rain stopped earlier than forecast over mid-Somerset and it remained dry throughout the day and surprisingly warm at lunchtime with the odd glimpse of sun. Cloud base went with cold front at about 6.00 p.m. leaving us with a pleasant generally sunny evening with low breeze. Butterflies came out, and blue sky could be seen while watching Murray win Wimbledon 1/4 final. Could almost have been summer.
  3. Ultra ghastliness here with little dryness between long periods of steady rain. Featureless cloud, dark and dreary, and as closer to the coast, cooler at about 15C max.
  4. Round my parts growing seems to be OK - but then I think we've been lucky with some drier periods than other areas sometimes lasting two or three days, albeit with a light shower. My veg are fine. Although I'm fed up with loads of low cloud and cool weather I think other more northerly forumites would be much happier with the weather down these parts.
  5. Steady light rain until lunchtime after which it cleared up but low dark cloud predominated on the coast and inland in Somerset. Vague hints of a little sun lasting the odd second or two but still dark and ghastly here. Currently about 13C. Here is a picture of Burnham-on-Sea looking beautiful today.
  6. Further south in Somerset the main rain by-passed us to the north but heavy dark cumulus with some showers have dominated the morning with a little blue in between. Maximum 16C. Now short bursts of sun between cumulus without showers (at least that's something). Blue sky keeps on tantalising in the distance but never amounts to much despite forecast of bright afternoon.
  7. Sun and cloud in equal measure - more sun than metcheck would have you believe at present. Cool and breezy but quite warm in the sun. Some heavy showers about but none have come over my house as yet, about 16C.
  8. Disappointing day herej. Warm er but no sun after drizzle up to lunchtime. Never became that warm near coast. Cloud thinned but remained in place. Quite cool evening. Some heatwave! :/
  9. Plenty of cloud about today but thin with a little sunshine but nothing in comparison to yesterday. About 17C at best. A mild evening. No sign of the 'sizzling weather' here!
  10. Somerset has not been affected by the overcast weather and the sun has remained, at least in my back garden, almost uninterrupted - and on Sunday as well. Me and the neighbours have been out in our deckchairs. Currently about 16C - high feathery cirrus and we can see the cloud to the south, but it is missing us here. Very nice day!
  11. Cool but summery feel at present as plenty of blue skies with fluffy cumulus around. Breezy but strong sunshine. Gasp!
  12. Three hours later and temperature has dropped to 13C (at 5.30 p.m. ) and sky becoming uniform grey with rain on its way. Hmmph.
  13. As said before, overnight temperatures are generally higher than in previous years, which skew the mean temperatures to be 'warmer', Also Europe as a while is certainly much warmer and sunnier. It's just us, Ireland, and Denmark who seem to get the short straw. Norway, although often wet, was fed up with rain last year too...
  14. Sunshine has diminished to minimal amounts and some heavy showers coming through - but they are showers and there are long dry interludes in between and although breezy the temperature is a comfortable 15C rather than the colder days we've had previously. Not fantastic weather, but at present could be worse. Yeovilton Air day is on close by and all the aircraft are coming through so not much disruption, Fine evening last night has helped matters.
  15. For me today is the first day of summer, so rather early days yet.
  16. Dry period after heavy rain overnight very brief - by lunchtime heavy rain fell in west Somerset and persisted and became heavier for about two hours around 4.30 - 6.30 p.m. - almost a deluge. Now much lighter rain and brighter now than earlier in the day. I can remember midsummer days just like this in other years! I do live near Glastonbury after all!
  17. Disappointing day in comparison to yesterday. Decent start but cloud collected by lunchtime and it has been overcast all afternoon, although relatively warm, and rain began spitting at about 6.30 p.m - no sign of the heavy stuff yet, though.
  18. Heavy cloud has now arrived blotting out sun and temp has dropped to 15C. Still dry but ominous signs to the north say not for long. Sigh.
  19. Much milder here today. Currently 17C with only a light breeze. Some rain bearing clouds in the offing but generally much more blue in between and with the slow movement of the clouds we have longer periods of sun.
  20. I certainly feel better when there is more sun. I like to think I'm a relatively intelligent person, and I work with people who have depression and anxiety - but I know I am affected by the weather. In long periods of dark, cloudy and cool days I have to work hard to fend off mild depression, particularly in the summer. When it is warm, close and sunny I definitely improve in mood. I become more positive and bouncy in heat waves, while others find it oppressive and become upset and grumpy!
  21. It's deteriorated here rather than improved. Now completely overcast and windy - and raining to boot.
  22. Very windy - some minimal drizzle every now and then. No sun as yet today - a little brightness appearing. Currently registering only 12C. Like late October.
  23. Curiously my peas like this weather and are producing loads of pods for me to chow down in in a couple of weeks. Some friends are also finishing studies and writing essays to hand in this coming week - so for them this weather has been perfect. Some silver linings, I suppose.
  24. A little blue sky around among the cumulus - windy and cool at 13C. Rain threatening nearby.
