  1. Very nice - at last! The only problem is the local farmer has been muck spreading and because it's warm the smell is awful!!!
  2. Nothing here yet thanks to the remains of that pesky front.
  3. Dull most of the day with lots of drizzle. Skies now a little more broken in Bridgwater and rain has stopped. Some of my colleagues are complaining about 'closeness' but I don't feel it myself. About 16C.
  4. No sunshine at all today this part of Somerset. Rain didn't come to much during the day remaining dry or drizzly much of the time. Heavier rain has appeared only in last hour or so - very dull now. 16/17C max. At least it's not cold! Looking forward to the rest of the week!
  5. Small amounts of sun a.m. teasing with strong warmth but lots of cloud, which increased through the morning until virtually no blue at all and very dark shower clouds. Cool and dull in Bridgwater - heavy rain inland leaving lots of standing water and some minor local flooding. Now cool but dry with thinner cloud. Only about 16C today.
  6. Far too much cloud around for my liking. Plenty of high rising cumulus but far more areas of grey than yesterday - sun has not appeared since 1.00 p.m. and temperature has dropped as a result. Showers of rain this morning, dry at present. About 17C.
  7. Relatively cool here. The day started with some showers but these have grouped into parallel lines moving so that some areas miss them altogether. My home is one of these I'm glad to say. Rain now seems to be done. Quite blustery at times and cool when it does this - about 18C max.
  8. Disappointing day in comparison to than forecasted. Quiet a bit of cloud around throughout the day and not as warm as the 20C we expected. Cool evening with some heavy showers of rain and little or no sun. Feels like autumn already.
  9. A damp day here - only short periods between showers and not a great deal of sun. One rumble of thunder earlier this evening. Dull and rather like the rubbish we had to suffer weeks of earlier this summer. At least it's warmer.
  10. Rain at lunchtime for about an hour but quite dry apart from that. Sun appeared late afternoon - some heavy cloud around but still a better day than forecast - again it felt warmer than the high teens. Heavy shower currently to the north looking rather thundery but no flashes as yet.
  11. Much warmer here than I had expected from the forecast. Rain was light but steady fro the morning but stopped by lunchtime apart from a couple of showers. A little sun in the evening with a lot of cirrostratus but not much lower heavy cloud. A better day than forecast all round
  12. Deeper into Somerset and hardly any sun at all today. Very cool on the coast but warmer inland. Spots of rain at times but nothing major. Slow increase of cloud depth allowing the sun to be seen a little behind the cloud. Now cool and rain close by.
  13. Joy of joys!! We just had a thunderstorm! The showers seem to be gaining momentum from the warmth in between - we have plenty of blue sky still between the cumulus allowing a warmer afternoon than perhaps was expected. Cool when the storm came by but it's warmed up again now in the strong sunshine - feels about 19C but air temperature may be cooler.
  14. Summer months - warm and sunny with a period of two or three weeks of very warm, muggy weather with thunderstorms in the evening and night. The odd day or two of rain to freshen things up and keep the farmers happy. Autumn - mild start with some showery days as lower sun adds to grandeur of showery skyscapes. Later - crisp sunny days perfect for bonfires and leaf jumping. Some early frosts are pleasant as they kill off the insects and give better autumn colours. Winter - snow in January but not for too long please - February should be wet and mild to fill up our coffers. March a mix of rain and sun - not too warm. please - still crisp with just an augur of spring. April - much sunnier but with some rain for the flowers. May - lush days with some showers but plenty of sun. Too much to ask?
  15. Yes I have been disappointed with the breakdown - I would have loved some thunderstorms rather than just a light breeze! But this has been the best period of good weather in the middle of summer for about five years here so this has made up for the first half of July. All is tempered however by the loss of life that has occurred due to the excess wet.
  16. Still plenty of sun about here despite an increase in cumulus from previous days. Cool under the cloud but still warm when the sun comes out which is more often than not. Feels about 18/19C at the moment. Noticeably lots of butterflies about today. NB This is the seventh sunny day on the trot - that hasn't happened in the summer round here for years!!!!!
  17. More mist/low cloud this morning - burnt off by 9.00 a.m. A warm start to the day but a strong breeze came along and cooled things down at about 3.00 p.m. Still pleasant to sit out early evening but my legs felt cold about half an hour ago (in shorts). Much cooler than last night - about 15C at present but fine sky.
  18. Well that's rubbish because Weatheronline is putting charts up for a high right on top of us around the 11th. They're usually pretty good.
  19. Not so much of the coastal cooling today - quite sticky in Bridgwater unlike yesterday when the heat was drier. Another beautiful evening tonight.
  20. Still warm here - we have a cover of high cirrostratus. Tomorrow is supposed to be cooler but still pleasant and warm - then it's downhill for the weekend to a cool but dry Saturday. I would dearly love one of those thunderstorms forecast for the channel down to Dorset to stray north. Pretty please???
  21. Saturday forecast now improving for my area = perhaps it'll get even better!
  22. Another fine day - more mist than yesterday to begin with but this burnt off by 9.00 a.m. leaving pure blue skies for the fourth day running. Slightly cooler near the Somerset coast with a light breeze but once inland able to enjoy strong low sun and warmth until gone 7.00 p.m. Like summer is supposed to be. Fine evening with lovely sunset with a few wispy cirrostratus clouds to add interest. Air quality not as clean giving a misty distance. Very nice.
  23. Wonderful day - third sunny warm day in a row - I can't remember when this last happened during the 'summer' months - must be way back a few years ago! On the down side I'm stuck in an office all day until late Friday, just in time for the weather to change to much cooler on Saturday.
  24. From Burnham-on-Sea I could see a light veil of alto-stratus starting over the welsh coast in the far distance but apart from that not a cloud has been seen all day. Fabulous summer day - and quite hot just inland. We're not used to this! I noted insect life making up for lost time today - gnats and flies everywhere out in the country lanes. This makes a change from previous years when it was a south-east/rest of the country divide. North - we feel your pain!
