  1. What a interesting story, ice rinks outside force to close because of mild weather, who would of thought that a year ago aye!
  2. I'll go with 5.8c, cold air at times but briefly with the odd mild or very mild interlude.
  3. I think that we may see something close to 2008/2009 when we saw the end of the winter produce the goods, after the previous 2 winters this year may well be subdued, hopefully not though!
  4. Twas rather windy here a short time ago as the rainband came across, yet again we escaped the heaviest but the highest gust here in Oxford was 35mph.
  5. I guess you would be looking at the Chilterns for sleet or at the very best wet snow, but i think that is very unlikely. Won't be too long hopefully before even us Southerner's get our first snowflakes falling
  6. Welcome to December, The month where the winter begins meteorologically speaking
  7. I know my area stands no chance of the white stuff being down in Southern England, but will be eagerly awaiting news/updates of snow falling for the guys up in Northern England,Scotland and potentially Northern Ireland. It's not the best situation for snow fanatatics but for sure a much better picture than the one we were all looking at only a week or so ago. All the best. Mark.
  8. I know its just under a week out but the gfs weather chart for 6am-(Mon 5th Dec) shows the precip type down to Oxfordshire border as snow, first time i have seen this near my area for a good while, hopefully a trend!
  9. Might not be the best scenario for us down south, but i believe its pleasing news concerning the chance of snow next week, even if its albeit in the north. Hopefully the 18z will continue the theme, good to see the Ecm going with the Gfs. Pleasing and encouraging signs people. Things will change though but for the better or the worse, we will soon see.
  10. We dipped down to -2.2c here in Headington,Oxon. 2nd frost of the season
  11. So the 18z keeps up the hints of snow in FI, but will this continue?,great to see even very far out of the reliable time frame, synoptics which would see a few on here happier than what we have right now, improvements are taking place i believe and we could be onto something in FI(hopefully).
  12. 3.2c in Headington,Oxfordshire now. Could we go below 0c here? I think we may just see that happen! Yay!
  13. Some of us have had only 1 frost this season so far! Your just lucky Currently 4.4c here in Headington,Oxford, under clear skies.
  14. Just a bit of fun really, see what the temperatures will go down to, there was a thread for this the last time there was a frost.
  15. Under clear skies much of the country will see a frost and temps decrease to a low of 0c,-1c.. So post your temps here... Its currently 4.9c in Headington,Oxford under clear skies.
  16. Any chance of a frost watch thread, as temp is now 5.1c here and under clear skies will drop to about 0c,-1c here tonight and for much of the country? I have created a thread for frost watch.. so post your temps/updates http://forum.netweat...t-watch-thread/
  17. Might be lovely for you Gavin, but for the majority of people on here they will not want to see a return of milder weather and those pesky southerly winds. The only positive for ME would be that us Ballooning folk might be able to get a few slots of Ballooning before the Christmas and New Year period. Anyway back to the models- Few more chances of snow other scotland during this week as cold tracks in behind thee cold fronts, from what has been posted could be a chance of a Northerly next weekend, not bad in my opinion the charts, could be alot alot worse, but could be alot better!
  18. 2-4th December as BFTP has now pointed out, is a window in which a storm could occur, strong winds and unstable air. Anyway the models still show no signs of a cold snap, the only chance is a quick northerly toppler or PM North westerly. Onwards and Upwards, i think as December progresses we will see more chances of snow forming over the northern high ground. I think towards the new year is when the snow and cold will develop... to conclude the 2nd half of winter i think can't get any worse for us in my opinion. So as netweather have said in there winter forecast it shall be a 'Winter Of Two Halves', the latter will hopefully give joy and happiness to most of us
  19. Headington,Oxford- Weather Conditions 21:15pm Temp 10.9c Wind 16mph SW Gust 28mph SW Rainfall(Last 24hrs) 0mm Outlook- Cloudy-Light Rain
  20. Hello Anyweather, The Rain gauge has arrived, shall i start recording the data from 1st december? Very Kind of you to send me it and i will in return be giving you the rain stats you want Regards Mark.
  21. Fantastic to see a small white blob on the map over Scotland(Highlands). It is great to see the progress through this thread, keep up the good work guys!
  22. Interesting experiment! Thanks for sharing your results. Mark.
  23. 12z to 18z.. From bad to much better promise. But the fact it has transferred that much in one run proves we can't see this as reliable until we see a few runs and different models starting to agree!. Anyway i am going with the longer december goes on the more likely we will get better shots at cold, but January and February is where our Cold/Snowy winter will be.. I reckon..
  24. I'm looking forward to the regional threads opening back up, but i agree its best to open them when the next Cold Spell comes along.
