Thanks Nick. I thought that too at first, but like the recent storms the big OTAs just let customers cancel without any notice, and tell us to suck it up. We didn't have any flooding in our village recently which was explained to our customers, but many still cancelled half term breaks because it was wet and they had an excuse for a refund. Seems like everyone has an excuse now.... i'm worried about that virus, please refund, had 2 today. My cleaners have also raised concerns about cleaning after our italian and chinese guests....hmmmm

Personally I'm worried about the economic impact, I rent holiday cottages in Wales for a living. We get nearly all our bookings from the big four online travel agencies (we rather get direct but that doesn't happen anymore). Already we have had contact from them stating we must allow people to cancel at last min and issue full refunds. With the first case near to me (Swansea) it's an easy way for people to change there plans at my cost. It's been a tough winter and with the recent floods which saw a landslide onto one of our cottages, a few months without bookings would finish us. My wife is also self employed as a child minder.

According to the legal experts on Radio 4 today, The employer does not have to pay you anything unless you are actually ill, complying with the law on isolation is irrelevant. You are able to make a claim for universal credit though for that period (if you can be bothered with all the form filling)
