  1. The most closest and frequent lightning strikes I have ever seen happend during that thunderstorm outbreak. I still remember it vividly to this day.
  2. It was quite good in the sun this mourning. Shame it couldn't have lasted all day.
  3. A much cooler night here with a low of 9C. The coldest its been for weeks.
  4. Now we have the heavy rain. A lot later then what was forecast yesterday.
  5. I was expecting to wake up to heavy rain this mourning. It has been instead a case of sunshine and cloud with a bit of a breeze. Not too bad really.
  6. Lightning that is too far away to here the thunder but you can see it as it is dark enough to see the weaker flashes. It is given the name because it usually accompanies the hot sticky type of summer evenings when storms have developed during the day.
  7. While there were'nt any storms here I did see some faint flashes around last night which was obviously from the storms that some of the people in this thread had.
  8. There were no storms around here yesterday though I did see some faint flashes (Heat Lightning) during the night.
  9. Well what another great summer day it has been here in Mere. Plenty of hot sunshine with only the odd bit of Altocumulus Floccus and Altocumulus Castellanus cloud around. Localy though it hasn't been our hottest day as the max was 28.4C which probably seems cool compared to what you lot in the southeast have had. We had two of our hottest days for 6 years here in July, both recording 30C.
  10. I have just taken two pictures of unstable mid level cloud which has just shown up around 4:00PM. https://forum.netweather.tv/gallery/image/18810-unstable-mid-level-cloud-2/ https://forum.netweather.tv/gallery/image/18809-unstable-mid-level-cloud-1/ There have been scattered mid level clouds around all day today but they have'nt looked like this. In fact as I type it looks as if they are growing bigger. If this type of instability carries on through the night and tomorrow mourning then their is a high chance of thundery outbreaks occouring as there won't be any Cap around to stop the clouds from building to a sufficient hight to produce lightning.
  11. These are some pictures of more unstable looking clouds to my South and Southwest which have just showed up around 4:00PM. https://forum.netweather.tv/gallery/image/18810-unstable-mid-level-cloud-2/ https://forum.netweather.tv/gallery/image/18809-unstable-mid-level-cloud-1/ There is a whole group of these coming over my way right now. I would say going by these clouds that as long as the instability carries on later tonight when the Cap breaks then we could quite easily have some thundery outbreaks of rain around overnight and into tomorrow.

    Slightly unstable mid level cloud

Some unstable mid level clouds around this afternoon.
  13. From the album: Slightly unstable mid level cloud

The clouds looking to my SouthWest.

The clouds looking to my South.
  15. Its reached 25C now! Not as hot as what we have had in July though today the humidity is much higher so it actually seems hotter.
  16. Have just noticed that the Met Office have taken away their warnings in the southeast for thundery rain. Not suprising really, its a shame because theres obviously pleanty of instability about availiable but the Caps just too strong.
  17. I don't know if anyone else has spotted this yet, but here I can see some unstable looking mid level clouds to my south. I think they are known as Altocumulus Castellenous or something. I wasn't expecting to see these types of clouds around today so I wonder if this maybe a good sign for something thundery later somewhere.
  18. I have just noticed there are a few slightly unstable looking mid level clouds to my south. Don't know whether this maybe a good sign or not for something thundery somewhere later today.
  19. Have woken up to a completely different scene to yesterday. The suns out with only a few isolated bits of cloud with light winds and temperatures already at 18C.
  20. Dry and sunny with only a few bits of cloud around. Allready a lot different then yesterday. Temp: 18C Max Wind: 16km/h
  21. Great!!! By far the best summery spell we have had here since 2006. We have had plenty of hot periods since then, but not as hot as this one. The long duration of high temperatures and sunshine is what will make it well remembered.
  22. Risk of convective weather? No chance of that around here today, its been overcast with bits of drizzle all day.
  23. Think the clouds going to be with us for most of this evening now. It still hasn't cleard up.
  24. 3 hours after this and still no clearance of this cloud. I must admit even I am suprised that this hasn't happend looking at that satellite image.
