  1. The sky actually has that thundery plume type of look you get before elevated storms move in from france. It is currently 25C even with cloudcover and humid, defenitely feels like the weather conditions you get before a storm.
  2. They must do! The very words of big thunderstorms enevitably causes the viewer to have big confidence that at least some form of thunder and lightning is likely to happen.
  3. I don't really see any other reason why the bbc would show such a high potential for thunderstorms if they were only looking at the charts we are looking at. They must know something that we don't.
  4. I hope we do get something tomorrow now because some areas away from us seem to be getting their fair share of lightning. It just won't be fair if we don't get anything.
  5. Well its been a good day here so far and better then I was expecting with temperatures of 26C and hazy sunshine. Dissapointed we are going to miss out on storm potential though.
  6. I wouldn't be suprised if we do get some thunder tonight as the sky has that unstable, thundery type look to it at the moment. To be honest though I think there is a higher chance of us getting something on Saturday looking at the models.
  7. The sky definately does have that thundery type of look to it this evening. Maybe a good sign of things to come for some areas tomorrow.
  8. The risk seems to be higher for our area on Saturday so either way we should hopefully get something.
  9. We have just had some light rain as well. It has broken up now and it looks like there are slightly unstable mid level clouds producing it.
  10. He seems to get excited over anything virtually. I don't know what it would take to make him unhappy.
  11. The models have to be barking up the wrong tree mate. Because if they are not then it will be the quickest turn around of a certain weather type from the models that I have ever seen since being on this forumn for two years.
  12. Sunny with some scattered cumulus cloud but plenty of sunshine. Temp: 16C Max Wind: 11km/h
  13. I am very dissapointed, and to be honest quite embarrased at how dramatically the models have completely dropped this hot spell, and with the chance of storms being very little for our area now just makes it worse.
  14. If the models are correct, then we will have plenty of thunder potential by bank holiday weekend to look forward to. Any potential we had today for anything convective would be nothing in comparison.
  15. I am a little bit annoyed now really because I was thinking of maybe going up Castle Hill today to be in some of the wind but because the forecast was for heavy rain I didn't bother. Wish I had gone now because the worst of any rain occoured around 3:00PM and since then it has only been light to drizzle so I wouldn't have gotten wet. I go up Castle Hill whenever its windy because its high up and has a particular shape which increases the wind by at least rouphly 25km/h (15mph) compared to lower areas.
  16. Had only over 1mm of rain recorded here but the wind is blowing more consistently now.
  17. The NPW confused me, sorry. At least I now know thats Short for Newton Poppleford Devon.
  18. Many Met Office official exposed stations are forecast to get gusts around the 30-35mph range for our region today. More than just 25mph. To reduce confusion I normally refer to Official, properly exposed locations when quoting wind speeds and not localised unexposed ones.
  19. I'd imagine the winds will be quite noticeable today and not just the rain. Its definately going to be the windiest its been since June around here.
  20. i'm certain I can remember the very end of August 2005 being hot and sunny. I can't remember how long it was though.
  21. A day of completely different two halves really. Heavy rainfall this mourning gave way to a gradual clearing then since around 3:00PM onwards it has been blue skys with warm temperatures of 22C and light winds.
  22. Nothing majour I know but it does look to be quite windy tomorrow especially for the time of year. 30-40mph gusts widely inland and probably up to 50mph in some exposed areas along with heavy rain. Certainly going to be the windiest its been since June in many areas.
  23. Blimey! Just came back from Shaftesbury where there was about atleast 20 minutes of torrential rain outside Tescos supermarket. The entrance way was flooded. Wasn't expecting that today.
