    Southernman is out at Reedham tonight and various people driving through have been telling him that the fog is getting thicker towards home (great yarmouth), so I hope he drives carefully when he finishes his shift.

    When do gnats go away?One has bitten me on the leg and its come up in, a huge itchy lump but i thought it was too late for them. Is it this weird hot/cold weather which is encouraging them?

    maybe off topic, regarding lightning. Do you find these days that there is less lightning?I remember as a child, a thunderstorm would have terrific lightning flashes which went on for hours, but the past few storms we have had, I had seen only one or two weak flashes, still with rain and thunder.

    Apparently, on the A12 between your and my locations, there have been several nasty accidents due to the weather, my boyfriend saw some this morning as he was driving, one carriageway was blocked off, and fire engines were rushing to the scene(s)

    I can't actually find any news about last nights weather which is a bit surprising, please if anyone sees any articles can they put a link?

    It got worse here after midnight as I expect it did down in Essex, I haven't been outside yet but things were literally crashing against the side of the house and the garden wall while i was in bed.I imagine it was garden furniture, wheelie bins, or maybe fence panels.I wouldn't be surprised to hear of larger trees down, roof damage, that sort of thing, it was the strongest gale i have known for some years here.

    I don't have a camera, but surely there must be more posters in this corner?I exect it'll be on the news later, they like weather stories. looks like its over and drizzly rain falling so it'll melt soon, amazing to see though.

    omg o have never seen hail like this in my entire life, now a white out outside, must be two inches on ground, still continuing.no more thunder or lightning

    looks like its been snowing, all white now.wind got up strongly like a blizzard, someone screaming in the street in it, must hurt, never seen such huge hailstones!

    Had heavy hailstorm and rain here about an hour ago, now sky has turned slate grey and i think i heard far away thunder.

    we had a very brief hail storm, about five minutes this afternoon, but it didn't seem that cold to me. I went to see if the baby bird was ok and he was, much bigger now, i noticed that the adult birds had put a pringle crisp in the nest and that made me laugh!

    LOL! Luckily one of the adult birds has come back today and is looking after the baby, yesterday I was so worried for him all alone in the cold!I just wonder what the adult bird thinks, "hmmmmmmmm I'm sure the baby wasn't wrapped in a blue sock when I left...."

    Hi Snowangel! Well, we have had a couple of hail storms in the past couple of days with thunder and lightning, didn't last long, temperatures constantly dropping, although blue skies today, just very cold. Poor Mr JJ (Southernman, who doesn't post very often) is outside working in this tonight and is freezing.I've packed him off with plenty of hot bovril.

    So cold here today and I've got a tiny baby bird just six days old, he's been down my bra most of the morning and then wrapped in a sock to keep him warm!

    it was incredibly windy here last night and still very gusty this morning but no snow only cold drizzle
